About This Community
Avita of Newburyport is a Northbridge Assisted Living Community in the coastal town of Newburyport, Massachusetts.
We believe that a resident does not lose his or her dignity, autonomy, or ability to contribute meaningfully to the community as a result of memory-related dementia.
We approach all of our care in a manner that looks holistically at the needs of our residents. In that way we believe we can maximize the abilities and minimize the losses of those in our care.

My mother entered Avita in 2019 . She passed last month but during her time there she was treated with the utmost care and compassion. They kept her safe and healthy through the covid pandemic. Matt and his team can only be commended for their kindness towards her. I do believe that her final days were her happiest. I want to thank them for all their hard work and support. I have and will continue to recommend them as the best option in this situation.
The rooms and public areas are meticulously clean and bright, the activities are designed to keep the residents engaged and active. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The food was extremely good. Again I would like to thank Matt and his staff for helping us through this difficult period.

On entering Avita you are introduced to a neighborhood. The residents welcome you as you visit. Overtime the residents look after each other as friends. They take walks together or save space for a friend. I have even seen people at a table highlight to the staff that someone they know has yet come to dinner. Creating a neighborhood culture takes work and the staff are skilled at nurturing it. It is fun to see staff celebrate when residents have success and encourage each other. Even more important than the many activities is the value of socialization that takes place in the Avita neighborhood. The aides are very professional and have amazing awareness toward residents for their safety, their participation in activities and even when they need quite time to just talk. While the aides are always present they have the support of nursing, activities and even support services like housekeeping and culinary. They know the residents. They try to meet their preferences while they help to keep them comfortable.
No doubt the decision to move my wife to Avita was difficult and the transition was a concern. The Avita staff soon had my confidence and most important my wife was smiling at me.

My mother moved into Avita of Newburyport. It was close to my home. It was all just memory care. The staff was wonderful. And I'm allowed to visit my mother around the whole facility, not just in her room. They have activities all day long for the clients. The chefs do a wonderful job creating a variety of meals that's tasty to the palate. It was beautiful. The grounds were wonderful to walk around. It was clean and neat inside, just a nice facility. They have all things going on all day long, entertainment. They take them up for rides in the van. My mom participated in activities such as carnival, Oktoberfest, music, and dancing. It was very compatible with every other facility.

I like everything about Avita of Newburyport. They serve three meals a day and snacks. They have outings, movies, and painting classes. My husband could be occupied all day. The staff is excellent, caring, very kind and understanding. They keep an eye on my husband and encourage him to attend activities. They all know him by name, and they introduce him to people that they think he would enjoy. They're just incredible. My husband's laundry is done, and his room is clean.

They're all very well trained. It's just a lovely place, and I would recommend it. They have everything. My mother has a studio apartment. It's brand spanking new. There were only 12 residents when she went in, and now there are 57 residents. I don't think you could find anything wrong with this place. The staff is very good. She likes Avita of Newburyport.
