I have yet to ever hear anyone have critical comments about Applewood other than having to do with personal preferences and relatively minor issues. The staff is first rate, professional, trained, helpful, genuinely and sincerely interested in the residents. The residents are unusually vigorous both intellectually and physically. The physical plant is attractive and comfortable, and the food is remarkably good for institutional food. Yes, the costs are on the higher side but for clear and tangible reasons. Few people WANT to leave their own homes, but if you want or need to, this place is highly recommended.

Applewood was similar to the other one I visited, but it was more expensive, and it didn't have a swimming pool. They had groups came in to sing. They had movie nights. I knew people at Applewood, and they loved it. The food was great. I had been to Applewood many times to eat because I had a lot of friends there.

I liked the layout and the apartments at Applewood at Amherst. I also liked the amenities, activities, and transportation that they had. The person who gave me the tour was very nice. It seemed very clean. I liked the dining area very much. I also liked the fact that all the tables were open for whoever came.

Applewood at Amherst was unbelievably big. It was too large. If you have a room at one part of it, it would take you forever to get to the dining room. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful place. It was very nicely kept but very expensive.

The facility is beautiful and residents are very involved with planning daily life. There are many activities for the residents, many of which are planned by them. My grandparents have been able to be involved with many activities they enjoyed in their professional life as well as explore new interests. The residents have many different backgrounds, resulting in many interesting presentations and conversations. There is a nice fitness room and cafeteria/restaurant. Staff are very responsive to resident needs.
