Wish it went Better

The facility seemed nice when we got there. My mother was placed there for 90days. Her staff the 1st 20 days were blissful. A good bit of the nurses needed attitude adjustments after those days to where my mother, who is not very verbal had to tell them that they are not very nice., and it went downhill from there. They began to give her meds and could not explain what they were for why the color changed, etc. Seems like when you are a more verbal patient and you speak up for yourself they began to care less. They would come to her room with orders to say they are doing something and she wasn't even the right patient. This began to get concerning. We voiced our concerns on numerous occasion with no solution. The only thing my mother began to look forward to was THERAPY! She loved their therapy unit and the staff. Her PT became almost like family to her. But she became to motivate herself to get mobile just to get out of there. The ONLY SUGGESTION I WOULD MAKE TO THE HALL STAFFING THERE IS TO consider if this was your parent, if you don't like your job or having a bad day, adjust yourself before you feel the need to do or say some of the things I've witnessed.

This Facility has the most caring staff I have watched them go out of there way to make sure my loved ones are comfortable and their issues are addressed, our loved one has Alzheimer's so I know how challenging it can be for staff.

Camelot of Broussard has been very good for my mother-in-law. The staff are all very involved and very nice. She stays in a nice one-bedroom apartment with a little kitchenette, a big bathroom and a big closet. The food there was awesome. She said she should quit going to dinner, because she’s gaining weight from all the food.
They play games like bingo. They take them to Mass, to their doctors’ appointments, to Walgreens, Walmart, and the library. They have chair exercises and movie week with popcorn. The only thing my mother-in-law complained about was that they only give her a bath at night, and she wants her bath in the morning. And that she has to walk down a long hall to get to the dining hall. What I like about Camelot is that the residents can transition into the nursing home part of the facility when the time comes.

Camelot of Broussard was very small, but it was very nice. The staff seemed very nice, and the residences looked OK.

The visit at Camelot was very good; they gave me a nice and very pleasant tour. It was very clean, and the people were very helpful. The dining room seemed a bit crowded; the apartments were fine. There seemed to be a fair amount of activities. One negative: it didn’t have any patios or garden areas.
