I like some of the staff at Brookdale Shreveport. The workers are really friendly. However, there has been a big turnover, and there are some new people and I don't think they're qualified. Food is getting better. I think they hired a new chef. They did hire a new activities director. It's kind of not up to date with things. You can go to your appointments, but you can't go to town to shop or to go to the grocery store or anything like that. They do give me my medication because that's what I requested. For activities, there's no-prizes bingo, and they played music and some people danced. I danced some. Their decorations are really cute, and everybody got a T-shirt and I thought that was wonderful. I thought that was a great activity. They have a salon, too. I don't think I'm getting value for my money. I had a really bad thing that happened to me the other night. I have COPD and I had an episode where I just lost all my oxygen, it went way down and I was just gasping for breath and begging them to call the paramedics because it happened twice before and I passed out. It was just like someone was just strangling me, and it was one of the worst things I ever had gone through. I thought I was dying. I begged them to call the paramedics. The new director said something like, 'Do you mean you want us to call paramedics?' And I know because I had to call 911 before at my home. They can get there, and they know what kind of oxygen you need and what to do. They don't always bring you to the hospital, but they revive you. But she wouldn't do it and it's taken me three days to get better.

Brookdale Shreveport was great, in my opinion. The people were very nice. The facility was extremely clean, everyone was very nice, and they have quite a few activities. My mother is not really active socially, but she may participate in things if she gets used to it. The apartments were very convenient and laid out very well, and I like them very much. The dining area was very nice. They had a work room and a crafts room. They were all laid out easily. It would be easy for an elderly person to access them. I was just really impressed.

Qualified staff, they are caring and patient

This has been a wonderful place for my mom. She has gotten out and met a lot of the residents and made friends. The staff has taken great care of her and any problems have been correctly in a timely fashion. Everyone is friendly.

Everything was nice at Brookdale Shreveport, including the food, the personnel, and the receptionist. I got a good impression. I wasn't real sold on the configuration of the apartments. I ate lunch there, and the food was wonderful. The dining area was very nice. It was clean, the food was good, the service was good, and the personnel and the attendants were courteous and friendly. The activities were adequate. They had a monthly calendar.

Some of the amenities in Brookdale Shreveport are cable TV and Wi-Fi. Their activities include bean bag baseball, transportation to movies and local area malls, and they also have in-house movies and a lot of other stuff. We were so impressed with this community, and its area and convenience, that's why we chose them.

Brookdale Shreveport is very nice. The person basically pre-qualified us before taking us out on the tour. When I told her that my dad was someone that would wander, she told me that it wouldn’t work at their facility because they are not a lockdown and also they’re on a busy road. I appreciated that because she didn’t let me go through the whole process, and then tell me it wasn’t going to work. They seemed very knowledgeable, and it looked like a very nice place. It would have been perfect if it had been a lockdown facility. They had bingo, games, and crafts. There’s just a lot of different stuff going on.

My dad transferred to Brookdale after his hospitalization. He really likes the structure, the people, and the food. He seems happy there.

My mom has lived in Brookdale before, but it was by another name. It was great when she was in assisted living, but when she was moved to the memory care, it was depressing. I think the quality of care was not what we wanted her to have. It was just not what we wanted it to be.

I stopped by Brookdale to look for placement for my mom. When I walked through the front door I was instantly greeted with smiles and everyone was very nice. The building is clean, spacious and big dining room. I hope my mother likes the room. If you are in the same boat as me, go look at Brookdale Shreveport. They will be very helpful.

I visited this facility. Very nice environment. Spacious. Clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend to friends and family looking for placement for their loved one.
