I was impressed with Brookdale Bossier City and the staff that they had. It would be one of my choices when the time comes. The rooms were small and plain, but modern. They had both one and two-bedroom apartments. They had a list of activities that were available every afternoon and evening, like bingo and movies. The dining area was cafeteria-style. They also had a library.

My mother will be moving into Brookdale Bossier City, and they were very nice and very helpful. We haven't moved in yet, but I liked the daily routines they have. I like that they have somebody on call 24 hours a day. There's someone there, and they have a nurse there. They seem to have good food, so we'll take it from there and see how it goes. They are redoing a room for her. They're putting in new carpet and paint.

My uncle actually loves it there at Brookdale Bossier City, he says the food is fantastic and the people are so nice. It's been such a relief to the family because we don't have to worry about him anymore. The staff is very attentive to him and he loves the food. I would say that it's good value and hit's taken a load off of me. He fell there one day, and they were so attentive and called me right away. It's just been wonderful; I don't have to worry about him because I know they're watching him 24/7. They go and check on him at night, they escort him to the dining hall and escort him to the library; it's great. So we have peace of mind; it's worth the money. They have a big activity room downstairs and they do things in the big lobby. I think he will participate now that he's more mobile and kind of knows the routine there. They something on the board where they do a couple of things every day like either a bingo, or some game where they throw a bean bag on this thing on the floor. They have 2 things in the morning, at least 2 things in the afternoon and one activity in the evening. They take people on the little van to go shopping.

We took my mom to Brookdale Bossier City, which is near where my mother, sister-in-law, and brother are, so we thought that would probably be the best. Of the places we visited, it was the most likely to encourage interaction of residents. They had little neighborhoods where you have several immediate neighbors and all the doors were facing each other and a sitting area. These little areas were interspersed throughout the hallways, both upstairs and downstairs, so I thought it was conducive to decreasing that isolation people have a lot of the time. I liked the tour guide because she was so personable with the potential residents and not condescending. Brookdale Bossier City would have been my mother's choice and our choice. It made the other communities that we looked at look considerably less desirable.
