The reason i visited this facilities is because my Grandpa lived here. He was diagnosed with alzheimers 2 years before he moved to Westview. I found the faciliy to be very inviting and the staff to be really friendly. The locking mechanism on the front door (which is needed) malfuncioned quite often. I visited Westview almost twice a week. The staff remembers you which is nice and inform you promply with any problem they have aquired that day if anything.I wish they would have had a different meal plan. The food there didnt look good at all. The cafateria was nice to be in. Really big room becoming a game/event center as well was nice to have. You would deal with 3 nurses depending on what time of day you where there. I thought that was nice so my Grandfather wouldnt get too confused on a daily basis. All in all i thought this was the best place for him. He lived with us for about two year leading up to the nursing home so i have a great connection with him.

Pretty standard nursing home in the rural community of Derby, just south of Wichita. This is one of those nursing homes tha has the standard hall features and seems more like a facility to me than the more contemporary, person centered model for residential care. It has the typical nursing home issues on survey, but always be sure to check for yourself the most current one. If any patient care issues have been cited, make sure they have been resolved. Talk to other residents and their families and always pop in unexpectedly. Develop a rapport with the staff. These are the best things you can do to watch out for a loved one who needs to be in a nursing home.
