Reflections Alzheimer's and Memory Care

Dedication to Service

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's or other memory impairments is a very personal, loving dedication to service. It requires service for specific and individual needs.

More often, the resident with memory loss needs assistance with life's daily activities including personal care but may not have an acute medical condition requiring around the clock skilled nursing or instruction. Finding that unique combination of physical setting and specialized care is a journey traveled by many families.

The Reflections Program

At Reflections, our trained staff works closely with family members and friends to assemble a "Life History" identifying the personal experiences of each resident's life.

Through the "Life History," we get to know the personality behind the person, fostering a one-to-one association more like "friend to friend" rather than "staff to patient." Details and events from your loved one's past become "shared" memories and experiences serving as a foundation for activities, communication, and the development of friendships built on support, understanding and mutual respect.

Base Monthly Services
  • Laundry Services - personal and linen
  • Housekeeping
  • 24 hour-a-day specially trained staff
  • Three daily meals plus snacks
  • Tailored activities - therapeutic and recreational
  • Full-time Reflections supervisor
  • Individualized service planning
  • Family and community support groups
  • Reflections Program - a personal life history program
Tailored Services
  • Medication Assistance
  • Assistance with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, incontinence management, and other personal services

I went to visit Legend at Capital Ridge for their assisted living. The rooms were kind of small. If you are not in a wheelchair, it would be just fine (like if you had a walker). It felt a little tight to maneuver around those rooms with a wheelchair once you get the furniture in. They were really nice rooms, and it was a really nice facility. For us, for wheelchair purposes, it would be a struggle. They had a small kitchenette, a half-size refrigerator, and a microwave. You bring in your furniture or whatever else you'd like, including what you want to make the room look like you want. You supply those things. They had three meals They had a little coffee station, and they had a bistro area to get drinks, coffee, and stuff like that throughout the day. The lady that I talked to was very helpful and very good. I didn't try the meals, but they had a good variety of meals and options. There was a restaurant-style menu that you could choose from.

Legend at Capital Ridge was very accommodating. They were great. It was so clean and new. It had a lot of nice amenities. The food looked good, and we liked the people. It was nice. They had two places you could entertain people. They had crafts, activities, and a nice atrium area that you could walk or sit on and soak up in the sun. We looked at three sizes of rooms and they were quite adequate and very nice. They also had nice sidewalks that you could walk around with benches to sit on just every few feet; you didn't have to walk long ways. The dining area was a very appetizing place to sit. It was much so much like a restaurant, and it was cool the way it was arranged. My brother liked the place, too.

My dad was at Legend at Capital Ridge, and it's extremely nice. We didn't get to really interact with the staff very long, but I met some really nice and very helpful people. The unfortunate part was he just really didn't get to take part in the amenities because he passed away after four days. When we went and visited about a month ago, we got there at the right time, so we could eat dinner. They served me a plate as well, and I thought the food was really good. It's pretty expensive (a little over $4,000 a month), but I think it was well worth it.

My father is at the Legend at Capital Ridge. So far, it's been great. Everything's been going pretty good. There were a couple little incidences of miscommunication, but everything has been fine since then. It's a very well-kept place. The staff is very engaging. Whenever we need anything, they're happy to help us get what we need. A few times I was in there with him the staff came in to check on him. His apartment is small. The bedroom area is adequate sized, but the living area is pretty small. He uses their restaurant, and they have an activity center where they do programs. The food is pretty bland.

My tour of Legend at Capital Ridge went wonderfully, but my father progressed, and now he has to be in a nursing home. It was very clean and the people were very nice and helpful.

Legend at Capital Ridge was exceptionally nice, and the staff was very friendly and gave me good written information. The rooms were excellent. The only thing I was concerned about was it did not seem like there were many activities to occupy the residents.

Legend of Capital Ridge was a totally different kind of environment because it was more for people with memory issues and much more solemn. There were people together in a clubhouse. The clients were very quiet, and there was not the activity that would be going on in the independent living. The person who gave us the tour provided me with information about what was there and the type of atmosphere it was, so he did an excellent job. The facility was very clean and lovely.

Legend at Capital Ridge was very nice, modern, clean, up-to-date, and had nice, small rooms. The staff was very good, showed us the various apartments that were available, explained what was available as far as the type of help that they can provide, and discussed with us the possibility of long-term care insurance and the help it might provide. She showed us the cafeteria and the snack bar area. She told us they had quite a bit of activities going on.

The Legend was very clean and nice. The staff was very good, and the rooms were very nice but very expensive. The staff seemed very good. It was in a very nice location in the outskirts of Topeka, so you can overlook the capital city.

We visited Legend at Capital Ridge. Mom decided that she wanted to live here because it is a very nice facility. They have exercise classes, cards, get togethers, and other activities. The food is good.

We weren’t too impressed with our visit to Legend at Capital Ridge. It was a nice place, but it seemed more like a nursing home. It was really quiet and not a lot of activities were going on. The rooms were nice, and the dining area was nice as well. The staff was really friendly, but the place really was not my dad's cup of tea.

We really like Legend, but they didn't have a registered nurse at night, and that was the problem for us because my mom needed that extra care for her diabetes. The staff was really nice. They took me to the garden area where they can go and sit. The facility is only 5 years old, so everything is nice, pretty, new, and up-to-date; however, we found out later that we can't go there.

I had a walk through at Legend. It was extremely nice and extremely modern, but for its price, we didn't pursue it. The rooms were very large. The facility was 4 years old. So, obviously, it was extremely modern and very clean. Their dining area approached was restaurant style. You would order from a menu.
