I placed mom at Garden Terrace at Overland Park. They have a serious problem now with getting the proper drugs because they switched over to Omnicare. It's one of the few nursing homes that write down the activities on their monthly chart, and they have very good activities there. Her room is very good. The food comes and goes. It waned for a bit, but it's back to being better. Garden Terrace is very good for people who have a lot of dementia and Alzheimer's. My mom has borderline dementia and an Alzheimer's unit like that has more mental stimulation in their activities than you're going to see at a traditional nursing home (that's the only reason I put her there). Some of their services have decreased in the last year and I'm not happy about it.

Garden Terrace looks fabulous, and it seemed like it would be great. They have only memory care. They get all of the patients involved; it happened to be the time in the World Series, and the patients were all doing things for the World Series. They were also decorating pumpkins; it just seemed very good. It’s kind of in a busy area, but the building itself was fine. I was pleased with what I saw, and the staff was professional and pleasant. It’s very accessible, it's close to a hospital, and they told me that they have like three concerts a week.

We found a wonderful place for my father-in-law. It is called Garden Terrace. It has a very high ranking. They specialize in people with dementia, and it turned out to be a wonderful place for him. They're wonderful people, and they're doing great things with him. Actually, they're saints. They're doing such a wonderful job. The rooms are fine. His room is big enough for us to bring in his electric chair. They supplied us with the bed and nightstand with drawers and a dresser. We brought in a TV table. His room could use a little bit more storage space, but otherwise, it is really fine. With regards to activities, they have given him lots of therapy. They have arts. He used to be an artist, so they kind of zeroed in on the things that he used to like. It has worked out, and it has been great for us.

We needed a place to move my mom quickly and my sister suggested Garden Terrace. The staff were friendly to everyone. The private room she was in seemed decent. Mom seemed highly pleased but I think she needed to be with people who have higher cognitive function. They had arts, social gatherings complete with music, and even a greenhouse for gardening. The company and activities made her happy.
