We went to Avenue 81 Senior Living. It's close to downtown Overland Park. It's pretty new. We were impressed with it. We did not eat there. We'll probably go back and see what a meal is like there. A very nice variety of apartments from studio to two bedrooms. People are very friendly. They've got a little library, a good little clothing area, and you can go in and shop. They were very friendly and people seemed to be very knowledgeable. We talked to several people who lived there and they were all really happy with what they did. They have an exercise room and they have a movie room where people can go for movies and activities. You can either have indoor parking or you can park on the street. The location is excellent because it's across the street from the city recreation center. The staff was very, very accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly.

I toured Avenue 81 Senior Living, and it was very favorable. They were very plain and modern. I liked the condition of the room and that there's a washer and dryer in the room.
The staff is happy and confident. The long walk is what I didn't like. But they have a party room and a salon. They were next to a community center, so they were close to things that I'd want to go to.

Avenue 81 Senior Living was a new place. They just opened in August last year, and they're not full yet. The apartments were beautiful because they're brand new, and they were big. They had a lot of light and nice views out the window. The rooms were really sunny and really bright; we really liked that. They had a lot of storage too. The only activity we saw was a birthday party that they had for everybody who had July birthdays. They were in this pub area, where a lot of people were sitting and they all looked to be in their 80s. Everybody looked like like they were having a great time, happy to be there, and enjoying themselves.
The lady who toured us around was Carly. She was very nice, very thorough, answered all of our questions, and showed us everything. She was very good. It's just the place would meet my mom's needs the least because the location was not good as far as where my brother lives. He lives long ways from this place, and my mom was not big on elevators. Although, she would have to use an elevator at all the places we visited; she'd probably have to use an elevator the most here. She was very wiped out visiting this place. It didn't seem that much bigger than any place else; but to her, it really wore her out to be there somehow.
The dining area was beautiful though and very airy. We were standing upstairs, and it was downstairs. You could see the whole open area, and it had beautiful views to the outside.
