We visited Settlers Place. I think the caregiving was good. Their staff was just so interactive with the residents and with each other, and they're always wanting to know what the residents want. Every time we saw somebody, they knew their name and they knew them all. They joked with them. You could see that it just felt like family. It had a very homey feeling. You walk in and you see this nice, beautiful, big living room-type place they have put together for them. Their dining room was beautiful and it looked like someplace you'd want to sit down and eat. It was really pleasant and well-decorated. All the residents interacted so well. Their activities director has a new Labradoodle puppy and she's just starting training to make that puppy a therapy dog so the dog can help the residents. When I was there, they were painting. The maintenance inside was excellent. There were a little couple of things outside on one of the doors. I saw some rust on the exterior door in one area. You could tell the carpet has been walked on a lot and probably going to have to be replaced in the next year or two, but it's still fine and it's very clean.

My tour at Settlers Place was very nice. It's a very nice facility. I like it a lot. It's just out of our price range at this time. They have lots of activities and very nice places to hang out. It's very clean, and they have very nice staff. The staff I had interactions with were very nice. They were very compassionate and didn't rush me at all. The residents can do together or individual things in the nice little hang out nook. They don't have to be in one room.

My mother's staying at Settlers Place. I am satisfied with it. The rooms and apartments are fine. The dining area and the food are very adequate. They take them to concerts and play bingo. They do a lot of things for them and have a garden and a small library room. The staff is very helpful and caring. It's clean there.

My dad is in Settlers and it's affordable, which is nice. The staff is very nice and we're happy. The rooms are beautiful, very nice and neat and before a person moves in, they go in and paint and clean and make sure that everything is working so my dad has a beautiful little apartment and we were blessed that the one he has got is towards the front. Since he has dementia, it was perfect because it's only 2 doors away from the center of everything, the dining room, the living room, the entrance, the patio. It's just very nice. The dining area is very nice and makes you want to go in there and eat. It's very pretty with the tablecloths and flowers. I think the portions of their food could be a little bit more but, on the other hand, we're talking about elderly people, so I am sure that's the reason why they don't give them a large portion. My dad is not on any diet and I look at his plate and I just wish he'd get a little bit more of everything but my dad has never said "I'm still hungry" so that's why I never asked if they can get seconds. This place is excellent, and I like the people, the cleanliness, the niceness about it. I am happy with them because it's just one floor.

My mom is at Settlers. The place is nice and clean. The nursing staff is good, but because of the new administrator, I will not recommend that anyone should go there. It started when my mother signed herself in. This administrator called me, raised her voice at me, and disturbed me while I was working. She tried to double charge my mother. Instead of calling my brother, who is there in the same town, she called me while I am several miles away. I felt like I was being bullied. She asked me to do things in a demanding way. Finally, my brother went there to tell her to quit calling me and to call him instead. We had to go to corporate several times because of her behavior. She told us she is moving my mother to another room, which we objected to, but she decided to do it anyway. She called us a day before Thanksgiving and told us as we are all leaving to travel that we have to move our mother that weekend and buy her a new bed. She did not ask us; she told us we had to. So, everybody dropped their plans for Thanksgiving to go and move my mother to another room. The room that my mom was supposed to move into was filled with junk furniture. The administrator did not think that we were going to pull through and show up with the family to move my mother because she kept threatening to charge us more if we did not comply and move my mother to the other room. She was going to charge us double fees starting on the first of December. We then found out that she never intended for us to show up to move my mother and just planned on charging us all of the extra fees. My brother had a meeting with her the next Monday and called her out on it. They paint and redecorate a lot there. There are less and less staff members. People are just not staying because the way she speaks to them is horrible. I can understand why they leave. I will recommend that they change management to an administrator that cares about the people and does not look at people like paychecks. These are people that worked their entire lives. This is their money, so treat them like people. The staff and the nurses are wonderful, but they have to do other duties, too, because there isn't enough staff. They are setting tables, doing laundry, and cleaning. They even take care of the dogs that are there. They are not able to attend to the needs of the residents because they are busy doing everything else. I appreciate the kind and loving nursing staff. However, the food is horrible because the cook quit, and the activities director is now the cook. It is a mess.

My parents are in Settlers Place. The services and the environment at Settlers Place offered were excellent. The staff was very polite, good, friendly, and caring. The dining room has chandeliers in it and fancy place settings. The room is very convenient.

We did not like Settlers Place. Their facility has much more light because they are not in a wooded setting. The staff were very nice. Their rooms are nice, lighter, and more modern. They had everything there. One of the reasons I didn't like it is that when you walk in, the dining room is kind of pretty much right there. It didn't have enough separation. Everybody was right there waiting for their meal. I was turned off by it. When I called this fall to talk to them, there was a new person in charge. She did not seem on her game. She couldn't remember anything, and it was ridiculous. She made a really poor impression.
