We liked Bickford of Crown Point very much. When we first pulled up, we liked the aesthetics of the outside where it had a really nice apartment lobby kind of feel, with the house style and the greenery they had out there. Our first impression was, "Wow! This is nice." The rooms we saw were also nice and better than the apartment my grandma was in. The people that did the tour were all informative. My grandma was kind of finicky and they handled her and her questions well, so they were good. I was really impressed with the way the grounds looked, and I liked that they had good food on their menus and that they had activities where they actually got to make stuff. They had special things like actual programs for people that were dealing with the onsets of dementia, which was a huge selling point for us. It was an amazing place.

I did a tour at Bickford of Crown Point and they showed me both assisted living and memory care. The atmosphere was very nice. The seniors were sitting around, they were in a common area, and they had an opportunity to commune and enjoy one another. There was a television that was on. It's a very nice, very clean facility. The person that showed me the place went into the history of when it was formed, and why they established Bickford. It's a very nice place, very nicely decorated, and very homey. It didn't have a sterile appearance that you would see in some places that had a hospital environment. This is very, very clean, but very, very homey at the same time. The person who gave the tour was without notes, but she gave me so much information. And she told me that whether I selected that place or not, if I needed any help from her staff, to just feel free to call them if I needed help with anything. The food smelt really good, but we didn't try the food.

I went for a tour at Bickford of Crown Point City and it was small. Since the director got sick they couldn't answer any of the questions I had, they all had to refer back to him. They had very little parking so I had to park across the street in someone else's lot. They had no openings at that time too, so why even let me go to a place that didn't have openings? The waiting area was nice, the place was clean, and it didn't smell, but they only had four parking spots and it seemed like they were understaffed. I had to wait for about twenty minutes from the outside for the tour. I said, "Why do I gotta wait when I already had a schedule?" The lady at the front desk was running around back and forth and it was just me, my brother, and one other lady who was waiting to see her mother out. There were only four people and she was running back and forth doing more stuff than what she could handle. I work in a hospital, I see one staff doing five jobs at one time, and you need to put somebody else on.

I did an in-person tour of Bickford of Crown Point and it was very good. That was a very nice one. I like that one. She showed me the memory care at the other end. We didn't do anything, just went through the hallway. I just saw the hallway of it. I didn't talk to any nurses or anything. Their staff was pleasant. I like the rooms better. I have nothing to say about the food at all; I don't know anything about it. I couldn't even find the menu. They showed me everything. I saw the whole place. Their amenities were very nice. I like the rooms better. They were playing bingo when I was there and they were having a pizza party. When I was leaving, hey were bringing pizzas in. They have an activity board. I didn't look at the board too good.

I went to Bickford of Crown Point. They were very accommodating, and everything looked very acceptable. Everything was very nice, however, my husband was beyond the scope of what they were able to do. It was not exactly what we were looking for. They had a beauty salon, and the place was in excellent condition. It had a home-like atmosphere.
