About This Community

Coventry Meadows is a senior care community for people who need assistance to get the most out of their lives—whether just for a short period of time or an extended stay. Operated by American Senior Communities, the community is designed to meet the health, social and emotional needs of older adults. Residents include seniors who are still active and independent, those recovering from an injury or illness, or seniors who simply want to live in a relaxing, peaceful setting with a range of amenities.

FACILITIES AND AMENITIES

Located just minutes from hospitals, shopping, entertainment and dining in Fort Wayne, Coventry Meadows is a unique neighborhood on the bluffs overlooking the Eagle Marsh Nature Preserve. Residents can expect comfortable facilities, an array of amenities, the peace and quiet of living next to a natural habitat and comprehensive medical care in a setting with lots of neighbors and staff who strive to care for residents as if they were family.

Coventry Meadows includes several distinct residential areas, each designed for residents with different care needs. The community’s Moving Forward Rehabilitation wing helps people recover their independence and quality of life after strokes, cardiovascular issues, orthopedic surgery and other medical conditions.

Auguste’s Cottage Memory Care offers a safe, secure and structured environment in which people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease receive research-based care in a loving environment. There is also a Long Term Care area for those who wish to remain independent for as long as possible, but need extra help, and the respite care area for residents who need assistance for a short period of time.

HEALTHCARE

Coventry Meadows’s highly trained staff provides a variety of healthcare services to residents. There are physical therapists, occupational therapists, memory care facilitators and physicians on staff.

No two patients face the exact same health challenges, and no two patients have the exact same health care goals. With that in mind, the health programs at Coventry Meadows are individually tailored to each resident, whether their goals are to stay independent, recover from illness or injury or to seek higher levels of care on a regular basis.

HEALTH PROGRAMS

Every resident at Coventry Meadows has the opportunity to live a healthy, active lifestyle. The community’s “New Energy Wellness” program is meant to help residents improve their overall fitness and enjoy an active lifestyle by building strength, balance and energy through low-impact, customized exercise regimens. Skilled nursing is another health program available at Coventry Meadows. It’s designed to help people recovering from a stroke, heart attack or other debilitating health condition improve their physical and emotional wellbeing. Residents work with a highly trained, skilled team of geriatric nursing specialists in a caring, compassionate environment.

ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

There is never a dull day for Coventry Meadows residents. In addition to the community’s beautiful views of the neighboring Eagle Marsh Nature Preserve, they can take advantage of the many activities and events that are planned daily. From discussions about health-related topics to arts and crafts to card games and exercise classes, there’s always something to do.

In addition, shopping, dining and an array of entertainment options is only a short 10-minute van ride away in and around Fort Wayne. Able-bodied residents often enjoy organized group outings to local retailers and restaurants, among other sites. The trips allow residents to stay active and connected to the surrounding community.

Coventry Meadows has independent living, assisted, and nursing care. The nursing home and recovery care has semi-private rooms, and a lot of people would want private rooms. The rehab area itself was very clean, but the nursing area was not as clean, and had odor issues. The assisted living area is a 5. The individual units are roomy, they have a nice dining room, there's a library, and a nice courtyard. The staff is friendly, and they do a lot of community programs and social programs. I would personally go to their assisted living.

My mother moved into Coventry Meadows. They're great. The staff is good. She has a room with four walls, a window, a closet, and a kitchenette. They have TVs, movies, and Bingo. The food is good. It's a good community.

Coventry Meadows is very close to Lutheran Hospital. They have a memory care area, and the woman who took me on a tour was interacting with a woman who was walking around and wandering. She walked up to the woman and was being very friendly. That was really nice; I liked it a lot. I noticed staff interacting and sitting with the residents. Everything looks like it’s being kept up, and things are being kept in good repair. There’s outside patio-type space and common areas.

Wish I Didn't Have To Do This
This is a lovely place in some respects...great to look at, many available activities, for example. However, after having knowledge of the day to day workings, I'm not impressed. For example, some employees think nothing of complaining to the residents about how overworked and stressed they are due to lack of staff. I witnessed medications being dropped off in a room with no oversight of the patient even taking them. Some aides are rough with fragile residents and call buttons are not always answered promptly. Who's in charge here? I've got to believe there's a problem at the top.

My mother was in Coventry Meadows for two years. The reason we picked this place for her was that it had a 24-hour nursing staff. However, they would miss on her medications. They would either overmedicate or undermedicate her. They just didn't care for her. We complained about it multiple times, but because they were on a year-to-year basis, we could not move my mother to another facility or they would sue us. That's ridiculous. We just waited until the end of the contract and that was it. Their food also was horrible. I would not recommend this place.

I was there for rehab after a knee replacement. Big mistake. Their staff can not handle someone who is not senile and had no idea what to do for a knee rehab. I was denied use of the walker I brought with me from the hospital! I checked out after one night in this horrible, horrible place.

Check out their ratings! Compared with other facilities Coventry Meadows has gotten only ONE star! Check it out for yourselves online. Becky will try to talk you into signing a DNR (do not resusitate) for your loved one. She gave me the creeps and she does not tell the truth about Coventry Meadows' ratings. The staff seems to change quite frequently too. Be careful about this place.

I recently took my mother on a tour of Coventry Meadows assisted living facility. I was very impressed with how well it was run. With my mother being a victim of Alzheimer's diseases I was happy that the facility was too big. The landscape around Coventry Meadows was very well maintained and displayed a vast variety of flowers. The one thing I was most impressed with was the staff. One person that impressed me most was Becky Nichols in admissions; she was helpful, informative, patient, and willing to help us with our questions and concerns. If you looking for a wonderful place for a loved one Coventry Meadows is the place.
