About This Community

At BrightStar Senior Living of Fort Wayne, our Assisted Living and Memory Care households combine best-of-class residential healthcare with best-of-class senior living, all guided by our philosophy of Person-Centered Care of a Higher Standard.

For seniors needing general care, our Assisted Living caregivers address daily challenges to make residents feel right at home. Our nurse begins to understand an individual’s needs by performing a comprehensive assessment that evaluates three key areas: medication support, wellness needs, and personal care. Informed by the assessment, we develop a tailored plan of care that guides our specially trained caregivers on how to help the best support each resident.

Assisted Living services:

  • Life enrichment and socialization activities
  • Medication administration
  • Personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, bathroom/toileting)
  • Housekeeping
  • Mobility and transferring
  • Chef prepared meals
  • Assistance with eating, if needed

We focus on living life every day, and it’s easy with our small communities. Whether it’s spending time with family, gardening or listening to some favorite music, we provide care and support so your loved one can spend time doing the things that fulfill them and make them smile.

Our Memory Care household is home for those with early-to-late-stage memory loss, making us an excellent choice when other facilities can’t or won’t offer more complex memory support. Our trained caregivers deliver personalized assistance for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia through our BrightStar Connections program in our small, purposefully designed Memory Care neighborhood. Structured, supported daily routines that help maintain the daily rhythm of our residents with just the right amount of Things to Do:

  • Environmental cues that help with seasonal, directional and time-of-day orientation
  • Thoughtful community design that optimizes function and enables residents’ ability to navigate
  • Purposeful programming scheduled seven days a week by our full-time Life Enrichment Coordinator
  • Specialized behavioral approaches
  • Engaging Life Skills areas
  • IN2L – computer system that provides cognitive stimulation and connection
  • Comprehensive medication management program to ensure residents are receiving the needed level of support for safe medication management, administration and oversight.
  • ·
  • And more!

BrightStar Connections

All of our staff receive additional Memory Care training and can become certified in BrightStar Connections℠, our Person-Centered Approach of a Higher Standard of Memory Care. Regular assessments performed by a nurse take each resident’s physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social needs into consideration to promote optimal wellness and purposeful approaches to behavioral expressions day in and day out. These assessments further inform a highly individualized plan of care, combining care and medication support when and how it’s needed based directly on your unique needs.

I went to BrightStar Senior Living of Fort Wayne. It was smaller. It's more geared to memory care than assisted living. It was very clean. Everything was brand new, but the rooms reminded me of a hotel room. There was a microwave and a small apartment-sized refrigerator with a sink. There were just a couple of cabinets, so it is really not a functioning kitchen. It might be good to warm your coffee, but not to cook a meal. There was one small bedroom and a bathroom. It was way too small for us. I just met one woman at the desk. We did have an appointment, but someone forgot to tell her. She was very accommodating. She asked us to wait while she could get a couple things together, and then she took us on a tour. She was very, very pleasant. The dining area was small, and it looks more like an institutionalized, lunch counter type dining area. I would not call it a formal dining area. They have a salon. I think that the person came in once a week to do everybody's hair. They had a nice little sitting area with books and bookshelves. It was kept very well. I was not impressed with the dining area or the menu.

BrightStar is a very small community of only 46 residents. Right now, they've only got, I think 18, so they're giving good care at this point. The food is better than the other homes my aunt has been in. The apartments are very nice. I know they have a dining room and a nice patio in the back. They also have a computer for general use. The senior staff is very welcoming and accommodating.

We went to BrightStar Senior Living of Fort Wayne. There was no individual patio for the residents, and I didn't care for that. It's small which is nice, because the staff gets to know their clients pretty well, and I think that gives a bit personal care. I was impressed with how clean it was, and how organized it was. I found the unit a bit small, they're very small apartments, that's fine for people who want to be out of their units all day, and I think it's well suited for people in their 80s and 90s. I think the place is nice and the staff is very organized, efficient, and very friendly. The library, game room and lobby area is small. I think it's a very positive place. They cook from scratch, and I was very much impressed with the staff, from the director, her assistant, and the receptionist. It's one of the better places in Fort Wayne.

BrightStar Senior Living of Fort Wayne was a really nice place, but it's just starting up. They only had four residents when I visited and we were unsure whether my dad would enjoy that since there won't be a lot of interactions with people. The rooms were really nice, though they probably could have been larger. They have an enclosed patio with an open patio on the second floor directly above it, so they have an open area within the building. They also have a sidewalk within the area so you can be outdoors. The dining area was nice and very bright because it's right next to the patio. Maybe it's a bit small, but from the size of the building, it's very adequate. They had a nice sitting area and a game room. They were playing some kind of game while we were there. There weren't many people to start with, but it looks like they have things to keep them busy. It seems like they've only been open for two to three months.
