I brought my father here to visit a friend and noticed how happy and at home all the residents were. The apartments there are bigger than what I expected, so beautifully updated too. While I was there, there was a holiday party going on for New Years and it was amazing to see how many staff there dressed up and helped out. Primrose knows how to throw a party and the residents always have something fun to do! My father has started to consider his options and we are surely heading back to Primrose.

I went to visit a family friend and was blown away by the caring demeanor of all staff there at Primrose. The building was so full of life, and you could see that the residents there felt right at home. While there I started thinking about how wonderful it would be for my parents. I popped over to the Sales Office and Jennifer was so friendly and proud of the community. My father took a turn for the worse so a few weeks later I called back and had a question about assisted living, Jennifer placed me on hold and when she came back the Executive Director and Head Nurse were on the line and answered all my questions. No place in the area compares to their passion and availability. Please don't miss out.

My parents are at the assisted living of Primrose Retirement Community of Mishawaka. It's beautiful, well-kept, and it smells good. Their room is spacious and nicely appointed. The staff is very friendly and kind. My parents don't take advantage of the activities so much, but they do have a lot to offer with a theater and onsite hair salon. They do exercises, they do socials, and they take them to the grocery store. They like the food. The dining area is clean, and there's lots of different places to sit, and they serve meals restaurant-style. So everything's good. They don't serve all day, they only have windows. They're working on having an open dining area, but it won't be done until the end of the year.

Staff is negligent. I've seen seniors sit in soiled undergarments for over 2 hours. I've seen residents screamed at by nurses. The food is bland, and doesn't meet state nutritional requirements. The kitchen does not operate in any kind of sanitary way. Often finding dirty dishes set out for resident use. Absoloutely awful facility.

While the staff is friendly at Primrose and the facility is absolutely lovely this is definitely NOT the place for you if you have a loved one with dementia or Alzheimers. My mother moved into Primrose 2 years ago when the facility first opened. We were impressed with everyone there and the nurses seemed to genuinely care. I started to get concerned, however, when within a few months the nursing director left and it took several months to replace her. Not only that, but the turn over among CNA's and Nurses was extremely high in my opinion. Staffing seems to be a huge problem at Primrose. If I had a concern about my mom and wanted someone to check on her, it was always difficult to get someone on the phone. Also, there were several times that I would come to visit my mom and there was hardly ever anyone at the nurses station. It got to the point where not only was I emailing the administration regarding this (my mom had a dog and she would go out to walk the dog without a nurse- which was supposed to be part of her prescribed level of care) but I was also taking a picture every time I walked in and there was no one there. Nurses and CNAs have to use their valuable time assisting with dinner service in the dining room and there is a HUGE disconnect in communication between the administration and the nursing staff. The current director of nursing even admitted to that one. In fact, two days before we moved my mother out of Primrose, we knew for a fact that no one had checked on my mom all morning because there was water all over my mom's bathroom, part of the living room, her bedroom closet and part of the bedroom. My mother, who we were moving to a memory care specific facility, had no clue what was going on, didn't even realize there was water on the ground despite the fact that ground would squish and if you jumped, it would puddle. The nurse on duty stated that the aid had seen my mother putting on makeup, but it was very obvious that not only had my mother just woken up but she was not even wearing makeup (we have pictures to this effect as well). They moved my mom upstairs into a temporary room due to the toilet being the culprit (there was a huge crack in it that we can only guess that she had fallen into it) and the next day when we came to pick her up (we could not take her home with us due to two children at home sick with the flu) and take her to the new facility, the nurse on duty told us she didn't even have a clue where my mom was until the MAINTENANCE MAN had told her!!! The previous day's staff hadn't even made a note that she was in a different room. At this point, my mother was an elopement/wandering risk. The staff was supposed to be checking on her every hour. Where were they? Primrose is a wonderful facility if you are in charge of your faculties. If you can take care of yourself, it's awesome. They do not have the staff nor the support staff to deal with someone that cannot feed themselves or if you need help with minor things. There have been too many times that I have gone into Primrose and found residents in wheel chairs, sitting in front of an empty nurses station, left to their own devices. The staff is definitely not trained with dealing with any kind of dementia. My mother is now in a memory care specific facility and the care is a night and day difference.
