I toured Bickford of Crown Point. It was very nice. I liked it a lot. I told the lady there, when I'm 85, I'm checking in. You don't have to cook. You don't have to shop. You don't have to clean. I told my husband, 'I'm going in there with or without you.' I liked it a lot. They were having a birthday celebration for all the people that have birthdays that month. They had a coffee bar with some snacks and treats on it that people could share throughout the day, and all the people had gathered and they were having a birthday celebration and it was nice. The staff who accommodated me spent a very long time with me. She asked a lot of questions about my mother and her husband like their activities, what they'd like to do and what they don't like to do. They showed me their menu and their calendar of events was just amazing. There were a lot of activities there. A lot was going on throughout the day. The lady I spent time with was very helpful. The upkeep was very nice. They had a nice common area. The lady said the room is just for them to sleep in. They want them to interact and spend time. So there was a nice area for them to watch TV and a nice courtyard. Some people even had little gardens outside. It was nice. I like it.

Bickford of Crown Point was very new and fresh. I liked it. It was a nice facility and the staff was very friendly. On Saturdays there weren't as many staff members, but there was the staff at the residents. The rooms were spacious, they were nice, and they were very neat. They had a nice courtyard. Just from seeing the place, it was very impressive.

Bickford of Crown Point was very nice. It was beautiful. It was good. It was excellent. It was pretty. The rooms were all nice. Everything was beautiful. People's doors were decorated with a wreath and everything, and it was nice. The staff who assisted me was very good. She gave a lot of information that we needed. She answered all our questions. The food was good. Nice menu. They have lots of activities, and the amenities were very good.

Everybody at Bickford of Crown Point was great. They were nice, very helpful, and answered all my questions. I had a nice tour. It's a lovely facility. It was very clean and they have a nice general TV room area for the residents to go to.

I went to Bickford of Crown Point. I visited both assisted living and memory care. I loved the whole thing. It was clean, it was staffed, and it was safe. It had options for my mom to be able to eat all day as she needs to do. It was cozy and felt like home. They had two beautiful enclosed garden areas for them, which was very well done. The staff was really friendly and very thorough. There are a lot of activities. There are a lot of folks out and about and not in their rooms. It's very small, very quaint, and not an enormous facility. It has a very homey feeling for all of the residents.

Bickford of Crown Point was OK. The tour person was very nice. She showed me everything. The facility was just not that big. The room was of average size and they didn't have what the other place offered. The dining area was small, too. Other than that, they had activities. It wasn't that much, but they had night-outs, board games, and some other stuff for them to do. They got nice landscaping and a nice building, and the area where you walked in was clean and well taken care of.

Bickford of Crown Point had wonderful staff. I was greeted at the door and everyone was trying to be very accommodating. When you come in, it's clean and homey. You could tell there's a family type of atmosphere there. There's various sizes apartments and they all looked very good. The one that I was interested in was also a good size. They had all the facilities, like the kitchenette, the living area, as well as the bedroom, TV, cable, and all the amenities that a person would need at that point. The carpet could have been cleaner, though. Their dining area gave them more of a restaurant feel. It was clean and they had a little menu that they could choose from. The food is plated as requested. I met the activity director and she has a whole list of activities for the residents. She comes in and spends one-on-one with the residents to see what kind of things they enjoy. She makes sure they are asked to be involved so she creates something for them. It's a superior place.

Bickford of Crown Point was very nice and very homey. What impressed my brother the most was the fact that it was just a very casual community. I was impressed with the fact that they had individual rooms. They each had mailboxes and patios off of the rooms. It was assisted living. You had your own place, plus you had the ability for assistance if you needed it. We were taken into their buffet room or a room where they have families coming together to celebrate a birthday or Mother's Day. It was like a dining area. That was where we were greeted. The staff gave us a tour of the facility. It was very impressive. The facility was very clean. They do have a library and a salon. One thing that caught my eye was they have a kind of like a 24-hour bar area. It's more like a canteen area that is staffed. If you can't sleep at night, you can walk out of your room, go to this, and get yourself something to eat or drink. I noticed a few members or clients that were out there and just socializing. They have a patio area.

Bickford of Crown Point was fabulous. It is just everything we believe that my mom would get used to. We already started applying and so forth. It's beautiful. The staff and even the residents smiled. If you don't see any smiles and they're walking around like zombies, then you know there's a problem. The rooms were very clean; they're like little mini apartments. It's not like she's in a room somewhere. It's more like an apartment for her, and she'll be given a key. It's more like all people her age, and it's just like an apartment type setting where they can still be independent (but they can't get out). It is why we're leaning more to it. They strive on the independence. They have lots of activities, and there's constantly something that they're doing with the residents. What they do is they have you fill out this paper as to what her likes and dislikes are, what she can do, and what she can't. It is getting her history as to what she was when she was in high school and growing up, how many grandkids, etc. It is just everything. They make the residents feel like they own the place. They would give my mom three meals a day and any snacks in between. They have different things like crafts, gardening, music, and church services. You name it, they got it covered. If the residents want to participate in any of that, they're more than welcome. They have a dining room, where it is set up sort of like a restaurant. They go into this dining room, and they have a menu on the table. They look at the menu, and they say, 'Well, I'll take this.' It's like a restaurant type setting. Then they have like a little bistro, where they could go there and have desserts throughout the day or some type of juices. Then every Friday, they actually have like a happy hour. They'll mimic certain cocktails, so they think that they're going out for the evening. It is highly recommended by me. They're good with the family. They treat us like family.

Bickford of Crown Point was a very nice assisted living place. They're very friendly and I thought they had a lot to offer. I think they're all caring and good people. The staff introduced me to different people. I got to tour and see them playing bingo and the activities that they were doing. I went into a few different apartments and they were very attractive. Everybody was friendly and open. It was a very nice community. I believe they had a big spa there or a whirlpool. That was unusual, I don't think my mom would use it. It's a 1-person spa and I thought that was pretty neat. They had a beauty shop and they had almost everything you would need. The people were very high-quality people, and the people who were there cared for the residents. That's the most important thing in any facility. If they care, they do a good job and they're there to be helpful to everyone. I was very impressed with Bickford for that. It's just that the other facility was a little closer and I just thought it was a better fit for my mom. It was a big square so if you would start walking it out and you went around the big square, you came back around to the front door again so you couldn't get lost. It's an unusual concept that instead of big, long aisles, theirs was a square. If residents went to an activity or something, they wouldn't get lost. Just walk around the other direction and still end up in the same spot. I saw a few people while I was there and saw some activities. I think they were playing bingo and they were all having a good time. It has this family atmosphere. That's how they want to portray it. They said nobody wore uniforms there and everybody wore regular clothes because they just wanted to be like a family. That's what I believe they were accomplishing.

They don’t have many activities. They don’t have enough staff. Only two for about 55 elderly. The staff are very nice

I like Bickford of Crown Point a lot. They were very attentive and made sure all of my questions got answered. They gave me a really nice tour. I saw two different rooms, as well as the outdoor and indoor meeting spaces (and the different ways that they use them). We talked about their calendar of events and their transportations too. One of the things that I really like about the place is that they allow pets, and I think that is really important to point out. I think it is great to have them so welcoming of residents with pets. It probably is the biggest plus about them. It is a new facility so there really cannot be anything wrong with it. It is nice. I like the way it is laid out and the people seemed very well cared for. They showed me the dining area and went over the menu. It was pretty extensive so I think it provides plenty of options for the people who live there.

Bickford of Crown Point was a very nice facility, and newer, so everything was bright, cheerful, clean, updated, and modern. It was a very nice community. It's on the higher end of the cost spectrum, so it probably isn't gonna work out for us. We interacted with two different people yesterday. One was the director who knew everything that there was to know, but he was busy with another person. Our first encounter was with another person, and she gave us a lot of inaccurate information, and then the director had to come back and correct what she had told us. We almost left because she was giving us information that was inaccurate, and nothing was gonna work for us at all, so we almost left, and then the director was able to follow up with us shortly thereafter, and corrected all her inaccurate information. I know they were trying to do the best that they could since he was busy, but don't send somebody who doesn't know the information to do a tour of your property. It was a very nice facility. I just didn't think that the person that was initially handling us was very good at all, and giving out wrong information.

I visited Bickford of Crown Point. They showed us both the assisted living and memory care. It was nice, the people were friendly, and it was clean. It looked nice. We saw the common area, the dining area, and the meeting room. We saw an apartment, the outside courtyard, and the memory care unit. The room was nice. It was a little small. They seemed good. We only saw it during the visit, but they seemed good, except they were trying to have a church service and the woman who was taking us on a tour was talking very loudly and disrupting the church service, so I felt bad about that. Right now the activities are limited because of COVID, but usually they have the hair salon, they do day trips, jigsaw puzzles in the common areas, and they have books for them to take out and read.

Bickford of Crown Point was nice and well organized, but I was looking for a place where mom could transition into through Medicaid after her money runs out and they did not have that. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the facility seemed clean.

Last week a resident got drunk and proceeded to try and attack the workers. There was about 5 or 6 of them and they locked themselves in the nurse's station away from her (they didn't even call the cops with their excuse being it would take too long for them to show), leaving the residents all alone with a drunk violent woman. The drunk resident then went into the kitchen trying to grab a knife when the chef stopped her and she then bit the chef. She proceeded to go back into the lobby and grabbed a 102 year old woman in her wheelchair and used her as a RAM to try and break down the door to the nurse's station. They were able to grab the 102 year old and told my grandma to run back to her room. The drunk resident was later sent to the hospital and came back Saturday. Please consider other nursing homes for your loved ones. The resident's lives were endangered and the director refuses to take any action and will not evict the violent resident.

Bickford was very nice, smaller, very new, and very clean. There were a group of women out playing an activity, the lady who gave the tour was very nice, and I liked the location. The dining area was very lovely.

I did not like Bickford of Crown Point. It had a big dining room and just felt like a hotel; it didn’t feel like a home. The staff looked like they wouldn’t go out of their way to speak or anything; they just kind of pass by you. It was clean and everything, but it wasn’t anything I would go to.

Bickford was a very nice facility, but we didn’t like the way they presented the pricing. When we talked to them on the telephone, it was one price, and when we came there’s four different prices according to the care. I should have been informed on the phone. Medicine giving, bringing meals to the room, and he is diabetic so they would have to come in and check his sugar -- everything was an extra fee. It was really a waste of my time to take that tour.

I visited Bickford of Crown Point. They staff was very good, very caring, and had a very good attitude. The room was very spacious, very accommodating, very nice, and very new. They had a lot of activities, and the menu was very good. They had an option that they could bring it to your room, if you did not want to eat in the dining hall. The place was very new, very modern, and well decorated.

Bickford Senior Living was a beautiful place, but my uncle was not comfortable there. I liked everything about it; the lady that we met with was very nice. Workers came and talked to him while we were walking around; they were doing group stuff in the lobby. It had a nice dining room. They had beautiful rooms and enough space for him in a room. The set-ups were nice because of how the restrooms were in them.

Bickford of Crown Point was a very nice place. The lady I talked to was very helpful and really seemed to care about what we needed. The rooms were all nice and big. They did have exercise room, and they have a hair salon activity room and cafeteria.

My mother hasn't been in there long, but what we've seen so far looked fine.  It's a beautiful place.  The staff seemed like they're happy with their job.  My mother loves the food, and she has been raving about it.  They made ribs, she has never had ribs at the other place, they had fish, and she said it was the best fish she has ever had.  They have a whirlpool tub she is excited about over there.  They have a nice roofed over area that she can sit outside with really big comfy chairs to sit in.  They have flowers and a little bridge, and her new room looks out at the courtyard.  You have to put in a code to get in and get out, so it seems more secure to us than what she had before.  I can't imagine anything that they don't have or don't do.  They're staff is wonderful.  The nursing is excellent.  She is getting her medicines on time and right.  They have a beauty shop there, and when she wants to get her hair done, she can just wait in her room, and they come and get her.  She found people she knew, so she is very happy.  She said it's so much less stressful to have less people in the dining room, and it's a little more toned down.  They do activities, but there's not so much chaos going on -- not a lot of people all over.  She just loves Bickford of Crown Point, and we're very happy.

The facility was neat and clean and the staff very friendly. Having everything on one floor with a limited number of residences makes things very convenient.
