Silver Oaks Health Campus was very good, and the staff was pleasant and friendly. I looked at one nice room. They were having lunch when I was there.

My mom had a good experience at Silver Oaks Health Campus. The only issue I had with this facility was they were losing, and replacing mom’s prescription drugs. They would put them into her drawer. Other than that, after we had straightened that out, everything was very good. Mom has a studio apartment with a little kitchenette. She had the one that’s partially furnished with bed, a chair and a table. She likes the food, and the dining room has a very nice set up. They sit my mom in a table with the residents of the same interest; so my mom was enjoying that. Aside from the prescription, they were very good. They have a lot of social activities. Her physical therapist was good.

Silver Oaks seemed way more institutional than the place we ended up with. I didn't like the fact that they didn't have a solid staffing model of ratios for patients and ratio to care versus others. I didn't trust their model at all. It seemed more depressing. The guy we talked to was something like the operations manager, and he was very focused on their operational improvement on things like digital screens and efficiencies and things like that that were more along the business operation versus the patient's resident care. It just put me off. It wasn't really caring. My dad gets in a stupor and falls out of bed, and this guy said they don't use alarms on chairs or beds. They didn't have enough nurses. I wouldn't like my dad to be sitting on the floor for 3 hours because he couldn't find staff. They gave us bread when we got there. The bread I thought was a little weird, but I guess they meant well. I would be frantic if I had to put my father there.

I think the facility was a very nice clean place. The meals were always very good. They also had a large amout of activites for the residents and buses to take the one able to go out to stores and such. The facilty also seem to do special things for different occasions including Birthdays and Holidays. The grounds we always kept neat and clean. I think the staff overall was very accomodating and professional. They were always pleasant and upbeat in personality. The one drawback I saw and it may be industry wide is they seemed to be short staffed. I say this as my Grandmother needed to use the bathroom so a nurse helped her to the toilet but then she recieved a call and had to leave her sitting there. Well when the nurse came back she had fell off the toilet and broke her hip. At her age she didnt fair well, she had surgery but then a few months later passed away.
