Altenheim Senior Living is just about the same as every place else. It was nice, but they only had one-bedroom apartments. They didn't have extra activity rooms, but they had lots and lots of stuff going on. They had a library, an activity room, a fitness room, and a beauty salon. Everybody's been wonderful. The tour people, the people we talked to and walked us through, everybody has been more than fine. When they found out that they didn't have what we wanted, like the two-bedroom ones, the staff got into her paperwork and recommended places, where she knew, had two-bedroom apartments.

Altenheim Senior Living feels institutional. From the outside, it looks like a hospital. I'm not a fan of multilevel places, and it was at least three floors. And there's not enough natural light in the building. At that time, it was still pandemic, and we were still wearing masks. However, they said they allowed activities to either be altered or not happen, and that was true in every place. They had a salon, which most of the places seemed to have, not all of them though. They were redoing the memory care. I took a quick look at memory care because my sister has dementia. According to somebody, they didn't think she was ready for memory care. But they were refurbishing the memory care, and it looked quite lovely.

I have a list of over a dozen events, by date, in the two months that my father was a resident at Altenheim, during which he was injured or endangered. On multiple occasions, he was left without his oxygen and no access to the call button to summon help. A nurse tried to inject him with insulin, although he was not diabetic. Although we family members had asked, multiple times, that the special footrests to elevate his legs be installed on his wheelchair, this was not done, and he slid out of the chair, damaging his back. A cut on his hand was left unwashed and untreated, and he was refused even a bandaid for it because it was "not on his medical orders". Often the food served was completely inedible; i.e., beansoup in which the beans were rock hard; cornbread that was batter in the middle. We moved Dad to another facility, and he has since passed, but I do not have good memories of his two months at Altenheim.

The PT staff was wonderful some of the nurses were good as well. But waiting 45 minutes to an hour for help is ridiculous. Receiving a blueberry muffin fruit salad and cottage cheese for dinner is ridiculous. I wish I was exaggerating I'm not. Water spilt over 12 hours ago still on the floor. Nurses not communicating between shift changes important information.

Altenheim was very pretty and lovely, but very expensive. If the price would have been cheaper, she would have been there. It’s a nice place -- old, but well kept. The rooms were small, but very clean and very nice.

If I was able to give it 0 stars I would. I don't even know where to begin. This place has been a nightmare from day 1. The only good thing I can say is for the CNA's, who are sadly the most underpaid, they seem to have some form of compassion. The nurses and other staff, not so much. One person never knows what the next is doing, you can never get a response from anyone, nor find anyone on most days. My grandmother would call for meds, not get them. Call to get assistance with a bed pan, no response until much later when she would be ridiculed for messing herself (she was completely unable to walk), knats around food on some days, many days without her sheets being changed, we found feces on her bed after she had been changed because they didnt clean her bed. Missing items all the time. Wrong meds, or no meds on some days. And, they don't use any proper procedures on preventing infection, my grandmother along with a few other residents contracted CDIFF there, which ultimately caused her to be unable to complete her PT and being kicked out. There is much much more, but if you care for your family, don't be fooled by the smiling faces and what you think nice facility. This place should be shut down and is a complete nightmare!

Altenheim was pretty. It was very big, very spacious, and well maintained. The staff was really nice. It just was a pretty place to live. If my husband and I were out there, we might live there because it was very pretty. I love the laundry room and everything. The rooms would accommodate just fine. My mom and brother would have plenty of rooms to breathe and live and everything else.

Altenheim is a Methodist home, and it was a very nice place. People are very kind and nice too. The rooms and apartments were nicely done. They played games, someone plays the piano, and they are having a memorial service at the end of this month.

Altenheim was our second choice. The facility seemed friendly and homey. The rooms were OK. The staff also seemed friendly. We were only there for an hour, but my mom felt good about the place.

Altenheim is very nice, and my in-laws are living there. They have a one-bedroom apartment that’s quite roomy and very nice. It was bigger than in a lot of other facilities. The staff is wonderful. They have different levels of care. They have dance every day, exercise class, and they do outings. The food is pretty nice; they have their basic full menu, but they also offer a separate menu as an alternative. They have four or five dining facilities, and you can go whichever one you want. They have about 32 acres of land area, including a walking path and a pond you can fish in. My in-laws feel very welcome and well cared for.

I had mom at Altenheim and she has been in there for a month and a half. I really like the facility. I was checking other places, but I really felt that this facility would be able to meet her needs the best. They had more levels of assisted living care than most of the other places. They had pretty much lift up everything they said that they would do and be able to do for my mother and so I've been really pleased with the whole experience. They have different size rooms. They have small, medium, and large and they were all very nice. They have a lot of activities. Everything was very clean and well kept. It's a good place and my mom has adjusted and she likes it.
