About This Community

A town rich in history and traditions, Waterloo is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places for its charming downtown. Catering to interests of yesterday and today, Waterloo has a variety of life enriching activities ranging from museums and historic homes to golf courses and local boutiques. Waterloo is also the home to the annual Monroe County Fair, Pumpkin Fest and the Downtown Christmas Walk.

Cedarhurst of Waterloo is comprised of two communities, one for Assisted Living and one for Memory Care. Our Assisted Living community houses 56 apartments and our Memory Care community houses 30 suites. Both of these communities are built on one-level purposefully designed to combine the comforts and feeling of home with amenities that enrich quality of life for our residents.

Assisted Living

Memory Care

Cedarhurst of Waterloo’s Memory Care community offers residents a customized lifestyle that allows them to live their life to the fullest. The open floor plan creates a comfortable living experience offering a community kitchen, living room, dining room, and craft corner. In this space residents will enjoy group activities designed to stimulate memories and abilities, allowing our residents to truly thrive.

We moved into Cedarhurst of Waterloo. The people are friendly, it's very clean, and they're welcoming. I know that they have a lot of card games and I saw them go on an outing one time when I was down there, but I've not been there enough to know all the stuff that they do. They give you a printout of what they do but I haven't looked at it. The food is good. If you don't like what they have, they have an alternative menu which we've ordered from that a couple of times, so it was nice. The only people that I've seen working there are at the front desk and in the dining room. We're in the process of moving in. We don't have our furniture there yet, so we're not there at nighttime.

We visited and were interested in the Cedarhurst of Waterloo for my mother-in-law, it's just that we found another place that's close to where her house is. We liked it because of the area, they had gardens and gazebos in the back. It seemed like you would be able to get out and walk around the area a little bit more. They had entrances that were set up to where you could go outside without having to be inside the building all the time. They also had a stove that was available instead of just a microwave, and that's good because she would probably like to do her own cooking. The staff seemed very nice, no complaints there. They were very accommodating.

We chose Cedarhurst of Waterloo because it's close to my house, and we wanted my loved one to move to Waterloo. We checked the other ones out and this is the one she liked best. Her level of care is really minimal. She is in an apartment style room with a kitchen, living room, and bedroom. She can attend activities there and go for morning exercise walks. They do a few outings on the bus. They do three meals a day and come in and clean her apartment. That's part of the service that you pay, but she is capable of doing everything herself. She likes the staff a lot. They come and throw your trash out a couple of times a day. With the virus going on, they bring the food to their rooms. She has a patio. The rooms are very nice. They looked brand new when she moved in. It's very, very clean and the staff is very nice. She likes the food. She said the food is good. I like the living atmosphere. Mind you, she has never been married, she has always lived out on her own. She was very unsocial and she didn't do much, but now she is very social there. These are people close to her age and they do different activities. It's pricey, but she's OK with it.
