About This Community
THE ATRIUM AT OAK CREST RESIDENCE was founded in 1904 by a group of local philanthropists who saw a need to care about older adults. The need continues and with the mission unchanged THE ATRIUM AT OAK CREST RESIDENCE is now the leader in caring for adults with memory loss with the copyrighted Keeping program and a host of other original approaches to the rigors of old age. The truth is history and philosophy go hand in hand and at THE ATRIUM AT OAK CREST RESIDENCE both are synonymous with caring about the best a person can be and maintaining a high stand in operations. Staff is dedicated with administrative personnel garnering unprecedented years of tenure and many others within the organization who come to love what happens at THE ATRIUM AT OAK CREST RESIDENCE and have also maintained decades of service. That dedication is in fact what sets THE ATRIUM AT OAK CREST RESIDENCE apart from most facilities of it’s kind.

The daily goal is to offer a warm, caring atmosphere that cannot replace home but can come close to it.

My sister-in-law moved into The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. It is a smaller community. They have staff who are long-term and have been there many years. They welcome the families to be part of the community and visit as often as you'd like. The staff members are very helpful if you have any questions and friendly toward the family. They have a doctor that comes to the community. They have their own beauty spa and a little gift shop. It's just a very friendly, homey, and lovely place. The gardens are very well-kept and clean. You can either get a one-bedroom little apartment or a studio apartment. My sister-in-law has a studio, which is just fine because it's a nice size and has room for sitting chairs, bed, refrigerator, desk area, bathroom, and closet. It's very comfortable and spacious. The food is excellent. You can eat there on Wednesdays, so the family can come and eat with their residents. They have movies, crafts, and puzzles. The price is reasonable and not overly priced. They do not take Medicaid.

My parents are residents of Oak Crest Atrium Apartments. They have two sections: one is for memory care, and one is more assisted living. My parents are in assisted living. They have their own apartment, which is very nice and very large. It has a small kitchenette in it. There's built-in shelving. The bathroom is very nice. Included in their rent is three meals a day in the dining room. If they're not able to make it, they'll bring the food to them. Their evening snack is fresh fruit that's brought to their apartment. They also get cleaning once a week in their apartment, and their laundry is done for them. My mother gets assistance with medication. If they have any need for assistance, they just have to call down. There's a phone in every room, including the bathroom and the kitchen. So it's been such a comfort for the family to know that we don't have to worry about them, especially at night that there's somebody available. The staff is super wonderful, very nice, very welcoming to my parents and the extended family when we go to visit. They have a pub in the basement that looks like an old-fashioned kind of bar-restaurant. On Wednesdays and Fridays, outside people can make reservations and go, and it's very nice. They have a movie room with big, comfortable reclining chairs, so they can watch movies. They do have a craft room, but they also do bingo and other arts and crafts. I was there on a Saturday when they had a group come in and do some singing, some worship songs, and some prayers with the group. There are plenty of rooms to go and visit with family. They have fireplaces, and on the lower level, they have a very large room with a long family dining table and a full kitchen. You're able to reserve that to either take meals in, or you can cook in there if you want to cook with your family member. My parents are very, very comfortable and happy there. My father feels like they're overeating because the food is so good. It's beautiful a facility, and the layout is very nice. They have an outside area and screened-in porch that they can sit on. It feels like you're at home, but your house is really big. We looked at multiple places, and the pricing was very competitive.

My father is in assisted living at Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments. It was more like a community than a jail. It has things to do and people interact. They make sure that they socialize with other people. The food looks good and they have a lot of different activities. My dad is busy all day, which is the best thing for him. The staff is very friendly and kind. They're more like caregivers.

We had a wonderful time at Oak Crest. I went and looked at the community, and then I went back again with my sister a couple of years later; we had an excellent time. We were very pleased with the property; we are not just ready to place my mother at the present time. The staff was very professional and answered our questions. They showed us a studio apartment that we were interested in and what activities were available to her. They gave us some soup to take home, and it was very good.

I Like Oak Crest. It’s good for my mother. She is well taken care of. The room is very good and very clean. Everything is very nice. The grounds are very well kept as well too. The food is good. It is older, smaller, and more compact. I like that it is close to my home and the fact that it is small. Everyone knows everybody there.

Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments was nice. It was very clean. The rooms were clean. No real complaints. One thing though -- where they have the people with dementia -- they didn’t have a bathroom in the room (they did have one out in the hallway), but I wouldn’t be able to tell if my father would have trouble with that. It was on a Saturday, and maybe that’s not one of the better days to go on a tour; it was pretty quiet. The staff and everything was very nice and friendly.

I toured Oak Crest and saw some things that I liked and didn’t like. There were two heads of the place that were very nice, very helpful, and gave me general suggestions and frozen soup to take home that my mom loved. There were some great activities going on. They had a beautician on staff, a salon, a podiatrist, and a visiting doctor. They also had a little restaurant and private dining in addition to the dining area. The room was so small and didn't have a bathroom, microwave, or a little kitchen area. My mom would have to go to the bathroom across the hallway, which is a shared bathroom. It really wouldn’t have worked for my mom because my mom has an urgent need to go to the bathroom very quickly. Everything was locked up there. When the staff member showed me the room, she said, “She won’t be staying here very much anyway since she’ll be encouraged to be out and about all day.” I don’t think that I want my mom to feel like she doesn’t have the option to stay in her room. It was an old building that didn’t feel like it was good for mobility or to get around the place easily. It didn’t feel open.

Oak Crest was a very nice facility, and the overall appearance was really nice. We did taste the food, and it was really good. The reason that my mom didn’t choose it was she did not like the layout of the apartment. I cannot remember the staff's name, but she was wonderful. The general dining area was nice and very homey. What we really love was where we ate; it was in the basement an actual pub. There was a bar, cabinet wine, and cocktails, and the food was really good. It was like walking into a pub; it was great. We also walked through the activity rooms, and they did look like it was something my mom would have liked.

Oak Crest was a very clean place. The problem was that they were expensive. The people were very nice, and they had nice meals, which their residents seemed to enjoy. Their rooms were very large and nice.

Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments was OK. Oak Crest was old and needed to be updated. The apartment blew me away. I loved that place. The staff was very nice. Most of the activities I saw were indoors, like arts and crafts, bingo, cards, and things of that nature. Three days a week, they have cocktail hour in their pub in the basement. They have this oversized kitchen where you can bring your entire family, make your own dinner, and sit down at the kitchen table for a family meal. It's pretty awesome over there. They gave me a walkaway with a bean soup that was very good. They had a little workout center and an outdoor deck. They had a theater room and sometimes people come in and do small skits or plays for them.

Oak Crest looked great, and the facilities were fairly new. People we spoke to were very sensitive to our needs and what we're looking for. It was just a good option. The dining room was very lovely and everything was new, modern, open, breezy, had a lot of windows and very nice. They had separate kitchen and dining areas for families if they want to have a private party, a movie theater room, wine cellar, and a number of activities for a lot of interest levels.

Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments is a really nice place that felt homey. The building is old, but it's really nice inside. The people were very nice, too. I saw people walking around and doing activities. Someone was celebrating a birthday that day and everybody was enjoying their cake.

The people that showed me around Oak Crest Residence & Atrium Apartments are very nice and accommodating, but there was just something about the place that didn’t appeal to me.
