My sister will be moving into American House Cedarlake. It was extremely clean. The rooms were exceptionally nice. It's not huge, but it's doable. I met several people there, talked with some of the residents, and talked with some of the staff, everyone was extremely kind and pleasant. I think the overall cleanliness of the place is what impressed me. It was just very open and very, very clean, so that was probably what did it for me, and then secondary was the price because the price was a big option for us. We had to stay within a budget and this facility came underneath the budget for me, so it worked out very well.
We took my sister for a tour, and we were invited for a lunch, so we partook in the food, and it was good. We had a sit-down luncheon of soup, salad, main entree, and dessert, and it was all very, very good. There were choices on the menu. All of us enjoyed it, so that was good, too. Everything that they have done, they have worked with me hand-in-hand to get this done, to get my sister in there, to get the price that I needed, the encouragement that I needed, and any assistance that I wanted. Everybody was fabulous.

We loved American House Cedarlake. It was wonderful. We're very satisfied with that. It was excellent. It was something we were not expecting. The size of the apartments was wonderful. They have underground parking, so we were very pleased with that. It was just very nice, and it seemed very pleasant. We liked the two meals a day and we could bring our cat, so that was a big one. There's a lake behind it with walking paths, so it's very nice. The staff were wonderful. They're welcoming, and they answered all of our questions. We enjoyed that. The facility is outstanding.

We had a very good tour of American House Cedarlake. It seemed well-run and very well maintained. The apartments were very spacious and we had our choice of a balcony room on the second floor or an outside patio room on the first floor. There's lots of closet space and there's a full kitchen, so that was a huge plus. We toured the activity rooms and the library (which is in the assisted living portion of the building). The marketing lady who toured us was the best. She was very helpful. They have indoor heated parking if you have a car and two meals a day. It was just a little too far for people to come to visit my sister-in-law.

I have parents at this facility and when first moved in it was great 2 1/2 years ago.
But for the past 1 1/2 years not blaming it on COVID things has been HORRIFIC ! Breakfast and lunch are to be served in dining room Sunday-Saturday But for this whole year they were not receiving these benefits due to no staff Up until recent breakfast and lunch is served in dining room but not weekends! They had their food served in styrofoam most of Year And still on weekends! Just horrible! No chef and now another chef quit. Food has not been good Always running out of food items! Front office helping in dining room due to no staff No housekeeping The residents pay for rooms cleaned twice a month and only received once a month due to no staff for the past year! Very few activities. Then they raise rent during COVID when not receiving benefits and NOW raising rent 6% for new year when they were not paying staff for housekeeping and kitchen! Front office nice staff and caring Poor upper management and just don’t care! Plus building new facility in Oak Park! So it too will be ran like this place Beware if u care about ur older loved ones

I was really, really impressed with American House Cedarlake. The rooms seemed particularly generous, and they had a more secure area for those people who need a little bit more security and needed to be watched over more closely. They have independent living, which is what we were looking for.
They let the people decorate the outside of their doors to make it their own place. It wasn't gaudy, and it allowed them to make their door a little bit more distinguished, like it was their own home, and it maybe let other people more easily find their door. After all, it is like walking into a hotel, because all the doors look the same.
It was on a relatively large campus; I had to drive down a good-sized drive, like maybe half a mile or more, to get to the building.
I like the woman there very much. She was in marketing. She had been a consultant so she was familiar with the facility. They also gave me an American apple pie, and it was a delicious pie.
I like this one more because the grounds were very generous, and my mom is much more of a country person. The rooms were really generous, too, with lots of closets, and everybody had a washer and dryer.
We walked a lot during our tour. It seemed like there were multiple buildings that were connected through a variety of different hallways. It felt like a large facility to me. You didn't feel constrained, and it was all very roomy.
The staff I met was very conversational. She was very helpful, and because she'd had some personal experience when her dad had been in the facility, she was able to provide a great perspective. She also recommended that I look into if the VA can give any support. I thought that it was amazing that she provided me with some financial possibilities, which I appreciated.
I asked her to show me independent living, so that's where she took me, but she also showed me the security and the areas for the other homes for the ones who need a little bit more oversight.
I liked this particular place because it looked like they had table service in their dining room. Around two or three in the afternoon, you could just kind of go down and have a little snack. I don't want to call it a happy hour, but it was almost like a bistro kind of thing where you could just pick up your sandwiches and stuff. They also try to make sure that people come out of their rooms, so even though they delivered food, they would only leave it at the bistro. You had to at least come out and pick it up there, which I thought was a clever idea because some people never get out of their rooms.

American House Cedarlake was very pretty. We got to go in and see it. It was quite a bit of money, but the place was really beautiful. The rooms were magnificent. They were really, really nice. The dining area was nice, and there were a couple of people. The dining area was nice, and the staff I met was a very nice lady. They gave us an apple pie which was very, very good.

We went to American House Cedarlake and if it hadn't been for the price, I would probably have chosen American House. American House is really on the expensive side for Mom because her finances are not that great. It was a little too much, although we liked it. It was actually our favorite, but the money was a big stumbling block. We got to see both independent and assisted living when we went there. We really like the way everything was set up for the residents. We like the way their meals were done. They had a structured menu, and they had a more lenient time schedule for their meals. Say that you had somebody in assisted living that had therapy or whatever and they can't come to lunch until whatever time, you could go down and eat at that time. They have longer periods for breakfast and longer periods for lunch and dinner. It was just really nice with that stuff.
Their apartments were well appointed. We really like the way they had things set up and the people there seemed really nice. The only drawback for them was their pricing was a little too steep for Mom at this time. They seemed outstanding when we were there. We really liked that place. The staff are all very nice and welcoming. Covid still screwed things up, but they really went out of their way to try and show us the best they could. They showed us the facility as much in its entirety as they were allowed, since they don't want you coming in contact with the residents. It was a restricted tour still but a very good one at the same time. We didn't have any food. We weren't allowed to eat there, but they gave us an apple pie to bring home and the apple pie was very, very good.
One thing that I like is that if the person is capable, they have some rooms that have washers and dryers in them. They could do their own laundry if they wanted and they didn't have to go out into the general hallway and share a washer and dryer. That was really nice. Some of the apartments came with that if you're capable of doing it and wanted to do it yourself. I like that. Also they seemed to have a little bit better access for tubs and toilets and stuff. We thought their access to those was really good for seniors.

I'm staying at American House. It's assisted living and independent living. They have Bingo, cards, crafts, outings, and book club. The staff is very nice and so is my apartment. They did a lot of remodeling. The thing that I like a lot about it is that they have a washer and dryer in every unit, and they have underground parking that is lighted and heated. It's also pretty reasonable in cost.

American House had a lot of features that we needed. It was very nice and clean. We were able to get a ground floor unit, which was important to me because we had a little dog. They had a lot of things to do, and we ate a couple of times; the food was good.

I like the appearance of American House, and it’s a relatively new facility. I didn’t really meet many people there; I just generally like the program
I am interested in locating a 2-bedroom residence.

American House was very nice. It was more of like an apartment community rather than a senior-living or assisted-living community. We were very impressed with the size of the apartments, and the amenities. The staff all seemed to be very helpful, and knowledgeable. They gave us the tour. They were very accommodating, and very thorough.

We visited American House. It was a beautiful place, just gorgeous. The unfortunate thing is that they did not have health care on the facility right there. It was not what I needed. However, the sales rep was extremely helpful. The apartments were beautiful.

It's just a comfortable feeling going at Cedarlake. We had lunch there, and the food was very good. The residents seemed very friendly.
