The Radcliff is a new place and it's got new management. The food is very good and my mom never complained about it. She has a studio room and the good thing about it is the price never increases. Just that there's a train track near the building that is making a lot of noise and it's giving her a hard time sleeping. A couple of times she fell there, too. Now, we have to move her closer to a nursing station so that somebody can watch her all the time. They also missed her medicine and after three weeks, her bed sheet never changed. Yesterday, the nurse came in to give her insulin and the nurse said you have to take her for dinner and somebody had to do it right away, otherwise, her sugar will drop. I had to wait for 45 minutes to an hour, still, nobody showed up to pick her up for dinner. The people are actually nice and very friendly when you talk to them. They are good and honest employees. Jonathan is a great guy and is doing everything he can. One of the CNAs is great, too, but being short of employees is the biggest issue there. They can't take care of all the problems. You cannot do anything outside the building as well, because there's nothing outside, but you could go to the church on Wednesdays if you want to. Sometimes somebody comes to play the piano and sing for them. Then they play bingo and some other games. They also do water coloring and sometimes people come over to give her therapy. It's a new building and everything is bright and clean.

We looked at The Radcliff. It was good. It was a very nice facility; it just felt like a hotel. I saw the studio and it had a nice kitchenette with a sink, a refrigerator, and a microwave. The staff who showed me around were very knowledgeable and very accommodating. They were ready to take my mom the next day. It was a really good experience. It's a little bit cheaper than the other facility, but my parents did not like the way it feels. It felt really big, and it felt like a hotel. They offered us lunch and it was very good. They have a patio, but that's attached to their common area rooms.

If my mother were looking for an independent or assisted living, I would say, hands down The Radcliff would have been an absolutely beautiful place for her. The food also smelled fantastic. Their memory care was a little bit hospital-like but I'm sure they're very good. It's just that we ended up finding her a smaller, homier place where she could take her dog. They had a lounge area for independent and assisted living, the dining room was gorgeous, and the menu I looked at had great meals. The pricing also seemed fair and the staff was excellent. The rooms didn't look like apartments to me. They were more large rooms or more of a bedroom with an area for a loveseat or a recliner. The rooms just seemed kind of small to me. Maybe they just didn't show me any apartments. Maybe there are larger apartments available but I only saw the ones for, I think, assisted living and memory care. It was spotless and it's pretty new, only a couple of years old. They showed me the fitness rooms and the salon. They also showed a beautiful balcony where you can see the skyline of Chicago off in the distance. Wood Dale is a suburb, so you can see the skyline of Chicago, which is beautiful. There's also beautiful outdoor furniture.

After visiting and interviewing 7 different facilities, we moved my mom into the Radcliff in Nov. 2019. This was a difficult move for her as well as her children. The final decision was made based on several factors. 1) The cost: no ridiculous move in fee that other facilities charge. In fact, they provided a truck and two helpers who drove to my mother's house and moved her furniture and belongings at no charge (of course we tipped the two gentleman!) The care is all inclusive and the same for everyone. No nickel and diming you for every little thing. Family and friends are allowed and encouraged to eat at no charge with your loved ones. Private family room and pub available to reserve for private parties at no charge. Cable, phone, laundry and housekeeping are all included. The fact that this is privately owned, no management company, and the owner is on the premises almost all the time including his two beautiful dogs Henry and Charlie is what made the decision easy. 2) The care. I was extremely impressed by how friendly the entire staff was (is) from the the front desk to the owner. The CNA's assigned to my mom are so thoughtful and caring and the nurses are reachable and caring individuals. They have made a point of looking out for my mom who at 94 has macular degeneration and memory issues. I told the owner that it reflects well on him and his management team to how happy the employees are. If they're happy, that transfers to the care of the residents. And, per my mother's private caregivers request who still visits several times a week a special shout out to the owner, who, after hearing she had a flat tire and needed to get to her next job in arlington heights, offered his car to her and said just come back when you're done and your flat will be fixed. What a selfless, caring act! Thanks Alan!!

I went to the Radcliff, and it was very nice. I think the staff was outstanding, they were very accommodating, and they helped change a room for my friend who was there. They had a room available because they were new, and that was very lucky for us. The food was very good. They have a salon in the same building, they offer two church services for different denominations, and they have a library; I think it's growing.

I am writing today to tell you about an amazing experience I had recently at The Radcliff. I learned my parents had recently moved into your facility so I traveled from Orlando where I live, to see first-hand your facility and assess the quality of care my parents are receiving. I was not only pleasantly surprised but absolutely blown away by your staff and your facility. Upon learning of my visit, your staff graciously arranged for me to stay in one of your unoccupied suites as well as dine with my parents for the duration of my stay. I think this was outstanding and an excellent way for a family member to see first-hand how their loved ones are getting along. This great perk allowed me to gain an awesome understanding of my parents’ lives at the Radcliff. During my week-long stay, I was able to observe your facility operations and staff interaction in detail and I must say I was unbelievably impressed with how friendly and caring your staff was and how smoothly things were run. Every single staff member from the waitresses in the restaurant to the nurses and caregivers to the front desk staff went out of their way to make the residents feel comfortable and secure. On several occasions during my stay I observed the care-givers go out of their way when my parents and other residents needed extra help with daily living. This enabled my Mom and Dad to relax and feel secure knowing your caring staff was available for them at all times. My mom keeps a calendar but on several occasions a staff member came to her residence and reminded her of an upcoming event and even walked her to the event even though the was able to make it on her own. This is just one example of the above and beyond care that your staff provides. Your dining staff catered to the precise needs of all the seniors, the food was excellent and it was clearly evident that you provide first-rate dining culture. I was also pleased with the beautifully designed luxury accommodations and cozy residences. There is real-time communication between staff and families, with event calendars and internal resident communication. I want to express my sincere appreciation for everything you and your staff do at the Radcliff. I can now rest easy with the knowledge that my parents are well cared for and happy in their new home.

Randall Residence of Wood Dale was wonderful. They had a very nice dining room. The food was great. They didn't have two-bedrooms, which is what we are looking for. They only showed a couple of different styles of one-bedroom apartments. Randall Residence of Wood Dale is brand new, very modern, very bright, and very gracious. It is lovely to be there; however, the location is not good at all in the middle of a very busy urban area. Nevertheless, the place is very appealing. They had a nice theater and facilities. The staff members were lovely, too.
