My sister has moved into Cedarhurst of Quincy. It is very modern. The rooms are all individual rooms; they're nice-sized. They have restaurant-style dining. They have a little courtyard for them. They deep clean their rooms once a week or so and they take care of their laundry. It's a nice place. They have an activities director, and they have a board in the common areas that tells the different times and different types of activities they're going to have throughout the day. They're willing to participate or if they choose not to, they don't have to. They just have different types of games and little exercise sessions and things of that nature. The staff have all been extremely helpful and understanding. They're nice folks. Compared to lots of other places, it's not that much more expensive. Almost all of them run in the same ballpark as Cedarhurst, but it's just pretty nice for the money.

My mother-in-law has been in Cedarhurst of Quincy. It's a memory care place. She's getting very forgetful, so we were told she needed to be in that place. They have a neighborhood, and I believe there are 14 people that live inside the place that they can talk to, and they eat together. This at least allows her to get out and talk to people, and make a better life, probably for her, and I like that part of it. We're just having trouble getting her medications. If she had a bad headache, or something like that at night, which she does from time to time, she's not getting the pain medication for it. They have a nurse that comes in that gives out the medication and she just comes in during the day, so if there's a problem at night, you can't get much help. Her room is nice, but it's very small. By design, they told us they like to have small rooms, because they want the residents to go out and spend their time. There's a nice living area with a TV, and they play games, and they got a kitchen where they feed together. I haven't tasted anything there myself, but she says the food is OK. They play bingo, I've seen them throwing a football around, and they had a party for St. Patrick's Day. The atmosphere is very good. The major problem is getting her medications. The building is only a couple years old, so everything is pretty new. It has a courtyard in the middle of the area that they can go into when the weather is nice. Everything is new and clean.
