My wife has been in Arden Court of Elk Grove for about a month and has not complained, unlike everybody else in the dementia unit. She looks good. She said the food is good. I don't have any complaints at all. When I check in every couple of days and talk to the nurse, she is very social and says everything is going fine. It has four different wings in the building, but I have only been in my wife's wing. It has its own kitchen. What impresses me is the homey feeling. It is like our family room and does not look institutional at all. The people are extremely outgoing. If anything comes up, they give us an update or suggestion.

This is a very nice care center with good aesthetics and great staff. There are two enclosed outdoor areas for use by residents and family members that have shade trees, seasonal plantings, and patio sitting areas. These are not large enough to take a long walk, but they are very pleasant and a great place for a short stroll or to sit and visit. It is in a fairly quite residential setting, set apart from and behind the Manorcare nursing home building. There are common areas spacious enough for comfortable visiting located throughout the building, both in the common hallway and in each of four "household" areas. The rooms are almost all private, with only a couple that can be shared; they are fairly large for this type of facility and all have good windows with usually some green space as part of the view. Each room has a spacious closet. The staff are wonderful with above-average tenure; many have been there well over ten years and provide kind, consistent, and respectful care. The food is above-average to very good; it is prepared on-site and served restaurant style, meaning it is plated for the residents in the dining room area and individually served. It always appears appetizing and is overseen by a professional dietary staff. Tasty and appropriate snacks are provided in addition to three main meals. This is a private pay setting so the cost is unfortunately out of reach for some; however, it is more cost controlled than some similar settings with no extra ala-carte add-ons for care charges.
