My father is moving into Brookstone Estates of Olney this week. The rooms seemed spacious and clean. He's going into a 1-bedroom apartment with a small kitchen area, a living area, a decent-sized bedroom, a bath, and a large walk-in closet. There was a stove and a refrigerator. The French doors open onto a small patio for him. It could also open onto a courtyard. The staff who assisted me was quite helpful and very affable. We had lunch and it was fine. After we signed the paperwork that evening, we stayed and ate. My dad seemed content with that. It's not gourmet, but I didn't have any problem with it. There were 24-hour nurses on call, and we were happy with that.

Brookstone Estates of Olney was lovely. It was a very modern place and very clean, and the food tasted good. The administrator was very kind to us and even sent my wife a dozen roses. It was different from a nursing home in that the residents had their own rooms, their own car space, they took care of their own clothes, and they have their own doctor. They let us come and taste their food -- which was a nice idea.

The patients or residents at this facility, appeared to be in very good shape and very happy on every occasion that I have been there. They according to one resident that I spoke with, are very used to getting visits from outside groups, that come in to entertain them. Groups that range from girl scout troops to people whom bring communion from a local catholic church. I got the impression that there is never a lack of entertainment.The facility is in a nice part of town. The facility and grounds are always presentable, and the interior is welcoming. One resident on one occasion said that when he knew he was going have to move into a facility, that he feared they would be really bothersome, but he doesn't think their staff is. He described it as "living in an apartment, with a little help". I have also heard, on numerous occasions that their food is very good.
