We've chosen the Victory Centre of River Woods for my brother. We've chosen it because it was close to home and my brother felt comfortable being closer to home. Secondly, it was very clean and the people were very kind. Thirdly, he has an area behind the building that's not enclosed with a lot of heavy traffic and he can get out and just walk there. I've been there a few times and I have talked to a few people and they enjoy the meals. They have no complaints, except that some people are older and they don't like their vegetables. They take them out regularly for either shopping or activities. They have a day where they'll take them gambling, to the store, or shopping. They always got something going on there. There are a lot of activities. As a visitor, I would have to go somewhere in the middle and rate it a 3 because my brother isn't living there yet. I can only go by what I see. The major person I met with was Barb, and she was extremely helpful. They've made my purpose for my brother easier for me, and they've helped me extremely well with all the paperwork. They're very clear and knowledgeable about what I need to do now and in the future, which is good, because this is new to me and I don't know what's going on.

Visited on behalf of my mother. I liked the facility and the residents and staff seem to intermingle and everyone knows each other. I'd be happy to have my mother live her and would feel comforted that as a smaller facility, they would know her by name and she'd have a sense of community.

Victory Centre of River Woods is a little bit further away from the city from where we are. The room sizes were fine. The facility is not as up-to-date as the other place. The staff was very nice, very caring, and interested in getting to know my aunt and how she felt about it. They were sensitive to her emotional state at the time. They have activities on campus and off campus as well. It was clean. It's in the suburbs; my aunt is used to living in the city.

My dad moved into Victory Centre of River Woods. I was there to move him in, I saw the facility, and I saw his apartment. I met a lot of the staff. He just moved in recently, so far everything is OK, everyone was extremely nice, they welcomed him, and he's complaining that they're feeding him too much. He seems to be happy, so that's the biggest concern, how he feels about it. Right now, visits are only by appointment. Even though Dad is a Medicaid recipient, you can't differentiate between residents that are self-funded. Everything looks the same.

I really liked Victory Centre of River Woods, and even my sister came in and saw the facility last month, and she liked it as well. The place is in proximity to where I live, and it’s really a beautiful area. I loved the layout, we saw companion suites, we saw singles, and they were both very nice. Some of the residents we met were really nice. My husband’s uncle actually lived there for around two years, and that’s a plus too.

This community has gone from ordinary to extraordinary!!! My mother has been a resident there for over a year now and I’ve seen so many positive changes. The nursing staff is rockin’ it! Portia is nothing but smiles and Nancy is so attentive to my mother’s needs. It’s nice to see a director like Glady so hands on with the residents and staff. I’m glad my sisters and I chose Victory Center!

Victory Centre of River Woods was awesome. Everybody seemed so happy and so cheerful, and everybody was helping each other. I was very impressed with the place. The rooms were small but very pretty and comfortable. It was a brand new building with good lights, everything was accessible, and it had very pretty hallways. The activity and the restaurant on the 1st floor were very nice.

I went to Victory Centre, and it was excellent -- no problem at all. I was also very impressed with Caring.com -- especially Terry who recommended me these places -- and she set up the tour and everything for me. The staff was excellent; they took me on the tour and were very detailed in all the requirements and information. I thought the facility was fantastic in every way. I can’t find anything wrong. They have all types of activities for the seniors; they go on trips, take them to the grocery store, and they have a very new fitness area so they can work out. They have a nurse station where they can have their appointments, and the doctors could come and do their appointments. The nurses will administer the medication for them. They have a lovely facility in the dining area, and if you are unable to come to the dining area, they will deliver the food to your room. What I like most about that is it’s not carpeted. She said it used to be and now changed it to flooring. The facility was nicely setup, and the thing that I like most is, for instance if you are independent and able to wash your own clothes, you can as there’s a washer in every floor. Every morning, they do wellness check. They have a 2 bedroom, they shared a common area, and each person had their own bedroom. They have a little kitchenette and a full sized refrigerator. She said it used to have a small refrigerator, but when they would take the seniors shopping, they will buy ice cream so they upgraded it. They only have a microwave; they don’t have a stove -- which is a good thing because my father did burn down his kitchen once. They got all kinds of activities, and they have a little barber shop and a beauty shop. The facility was really nice. They teach classes like how to use Skype and use the internet.

I thought that Victory Centre of River Woods was a very nice facility for seniors. They offered a lot of activities and the living arrangements were very conducive to the seniors' lifestyle. The staff showed that they were very caring and supportive. I was impressed that they offered as much support services that they need, which is nursing, doctors, therapy on staff and transportation. I thought those were all key elements. They offered more of an African-American community. Of course, there were interracial people there which was great. It seemed a little bit more livelier. The staff and the people seemed to be more upbeat and involved. The facility was clean and offered a lot for the people there and had a variety of food.

The staff at this facility, and apparently corporate, interfere with the healthcare decisions of their residents. They do not have the best interests of the residents at heart, and do not allow the patients to make their own decisions. I am very disappointed in this facility and would not recommend it to others.

I toured the facility for my uncle who was looking for an Assisted Living facility. I was very impressed. I had an opportunity to dine there and the lunchroom was clean bright and the food was delicious. My uncle decided to live at Riverwoods and it was the most wonderful experience. The staff is very caring for the residents, they were outstanding in his care and I could not have been happier that we found such a wonderful place. Everyone from the receptionist to the medical staff goes out of their way to make his experience a happy and productive one. I cannot thank them enough.

The whole set up of Victory Centre was OK, but they didn't have a room I wanted available. They had a room, but it was 2 people sharing the same apartment. The rooms were nice. The staff was really nice, very helpful, and everything. The place is very clean, and the people were very nice. They discussed everything. They told me all the activities every day that they did around there. I would recommend it.

I liked the location of Victory Center and I liked the apartment; it has more room and plenty of windows, so it was very well lit. The biggest thing was walking in and seeing how happy the residents were. My mom moved in three weeks ago. They get to go somewhere 2-3 times a week. They’ve been to the grocery store, out to eat, and the botanical garden. Everybody was friendly and helpful.

Victory Center seemed to be very complete, everything was there. The rooms have a bathroom, bed, refrigerator, a place for a desk and a sink. The dining area looks very nice and the menu looks very good. The place was clean. There were a lot of residents just sitting around, but they seemed happy and the care seemed good. They seemed to be very caring and on top of things.

The centre has every facility required to people who required assisted living, recently my relative joined the center and in his words he is completely satisfied with the services they are offering at an affordable price tag. The 24 hours supervision and nursing care facility is marvelous, The interaction activities are very good to consider. Meals are served in healthy and hygienic condition at common area where others can interact and socialize. Other important factor is Government assisted center, pets are allowed which is good because many centers restrict pets, hair salons, library, computer rooms, Handicap Barriers free are very convenient factor to consider, The caretakers in center are offering their assistance with service oriented motto to caring every individual personally with utmost care .According to my close relative satisfactory levels I will genuinely and totally recommend this Victory Centre of River Woods to be best of its Assisted living class in this area.
