Generations at Oakton Arms was easy to get to. I met the receptionist and the woman who gave us a tour, Rena. They were both very nice and pleasant. Rena particularly put you at ease. She talked to my dad and not me, which was important. The colors were bright. It was nice.

Generations at Oakton Arms was small, so you get to know everybody, and they have very helpful staff. It's clean and well-kept. My friend's studio apartment has a nice big open area and they were able to have that by not providing a full kitchen. It's just an efficiency kitchen, which is fine because the meals are provided downstairs and she didn't want a full kitchen. So that was a benefit. There's more room for her bedroom, her chairs, and friends that would come over.
The dining area was nice. People were spread out. There was lots of room between tables and it wasn't overcrowded. It was a quiet and smaller eating area. There were windows and it just seemed nice. There was also a little private room if your family was with you. The food was very good. Then there's some kind of a movie/show every night, a word game that my friend went to, and some exercise. There's an activity schedule that has two or three things every day. So, I think it's pretty good value.

My mom was moved to their new assisted living facility after Kelly convinced us that she will be receiving better care there. The level of care here is awfully bad. There nurses do not even make an effort to respond to my mom's needs. When I asked the nurse about a medication she is receiving, she did not have a clue what was going on or why she was receiving this medication. Nursing staff here do not know how to manage her condition. They also lied to us by promising us that there will be a nurse at night, but we came to find out this is not the case. The facility itself is antiqued including the furnitures in their atrium. They are beginning remodel some of it by putting on cheap carpeting and other stuff but cannot match with other facilities in the neighborhood yet. Food and service here is awfully bad.

Oakton Arms was my favorite, and the one I wished my aunt had picked. However, the location was too far out in the city and far from her house. The rooms were spacious, the dining area was area was beautiful, and it seemed each meal was going to be something special just by the way it looked. The lady was incredibly nice to us. I have only wonderful things to say about them. They had a shuttle bus, computer, library, and beauty salon. They had a lot of activities.
