St. Joseph Village of Chicago was clean, and the people were friendly. It didn't matter what level they were because you could tell that some were managers, some were custodians, and they were all very friendly with each other. The residents I met seemed happy. I talked to one gentleman and he seemed very happy and very comfortable there. He had been there for several years and he was a very nice gentleman and very helpful in talking about the place. The rooms were very nice. I was able to look into a couple of rooms where people were there and then we saw some empty rooms. The place was pretty. It was a pleasant place to be. They had an outdoor space that was fenced and locked so that the residents could be outside without wandering off or without being bothered by the neighborhood, and it was in a very nice neighborhood on the north side of the city. I didn't like that it was kind of large. There wasn't a whole lot I didn't like about it. I'm just trying to find a place that fits my mother-in-law and it is definitely on the list.

I went to St. Joseph Village of Chicago. The staff was very good. The only drawback of that facility is that they don't have long-term memory care. It's only short-term for memory care. From there, they send them to other facilities, so I wasn't too happy about that. That didn't fit my needs. The good thing is that if you need to stay there for a week or so or just for a short-term visit, it'll work out for you, but long-term-wise, it's not what I needed. They have a rehab center and a nice chapel. The facility itself was very clean. To get in, it's pretty secure. They have to buzz you in. It was a nice facility, and the staff was friendly.

The reason we chose St. Joseph Village of Chicago is because my mom is Spanish-speaking. They have residents and staff who speak Spanish. It was a very pretty place, really nice, and very clean. The thing I liked most about it was the residents seemed very happy. So if they're happy, then I'm sure my mom would be happy. The staff member's name was Sonia, and she was just excellent, very patient, listened to all our needs and worries, and she was just very reassuring. The rooms were very spacious, up to date, and very nice. They have like a little patio.

We are in the getting to know you phase. The staff and administrators have been very receptive to any concerns we may have. I am very hopeful and less anxious because of their responses. Room are clean and my mother likes the place. My mother likes going to mass and enjoys the dining room. Still learning about the amenities.
