I had an in-person tour of Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest. It was very warm and inviting. I thought it was small enough that it wouldn't be so overwhelming for my loved one. The executive director was absolutely amazing and very personable. It was more costly than the other facility. I like that they provided furniture for the rooms. They were standard rooms but could be fixed up to however we wanted for our loved ones, which was very acceptable. They have houses with different patients at different levels. One house was specifically for men, which I liked because that's where my husband would be. I like the separation and that they had people in charge of each house which allowed them to get to know the patients. They do have apartments and individual rooms. They had an array of services. When I was there, they had one meeting going on, and another was a movie. They promote the patients getting to know one another. They have libraries. Each courtyard connects to each house so that they can walk around, yet they can't leave the facility.

My mother is in Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest, and she's been there two and a half weeks. It is small, which is fine. I think that they need more staff and more professional staff on duty, like more nurses instead of CNAs or patient care techs (whatever you want to call them). The layout and the structure is pleasant. It's old and needs some updating with the furniture. She's not going to like anything about the place because she has Alzheimer's and dementia. She's not going to give you any positive feedback, because she is not home and she wants to be home, but she can't be at home by herself. They have a library, but it's very small. I haven't really seen the salon or it being used.

I went to Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest and it was very nice. It was very clean, it was very it also very well decorated. Everybody would seem to have gone all out except for one place put their Christmas decorations. It looked like they had a professional decorator come in and do everything. Everybody was very professional, very nice, very pleasant. I was impressed that the rooms all have a flat-screen TV and were very nice, they all had their own bath but no kitchen. Their dining area was very homey, very nice, I liked it. I got to see the laundry area, the hair salon, the activity area, all of it, and everything they had to offer. In terms of the maintenance, everything was very clean. But the price was too high, otherwise, I might have picked this one, there were no problems with it.

I like Citadel Estates Memory Care, I like what it does for my mother. It's much smaller so it's good for her and I don't have anything negative about them. The staff is about the business, they're about taking care of the residents. They're handling our residents accordingly, they're safe, the staff cares about their well-being and health.

We visited Citadel Estates Memory Care. We saw single bedroom apartments and a studio that were all well kept. They had daily activities and set up an itinerary to take the people out on a daily basis. It was pretty good. The two people I met were attentive to my needs and polite, so that was encouraging.

I found Citadel Estates for my father. It is good, and I love it. The staff is very patient, very caring, and very concerned. He has a room, which is big enough for one person, with a bed, a dresser, a bathroom, and a closet. They play games, watch movies, and have musicians visit to sing.

The way that Arden Courts is set up, they call them houses. They have 4 houses, and each house is all connected to the building, so you could go in and out of each of the houses. Each one of those houses has 16 bedrooms and a bathroom, which just did not have a shower in it, and I am sure that is for safety reasons, so they have to get showered by the aide; they get 2 showers a week. They do have an activity room, an activity supervisor, and then the aides to perform the activities with the residents. They would do a memory game where they would ask the residents questions. The communication around there is a little vague.

My parent is a resident at this facility. Our family chose this facility based on the ratings and cost.
The facility is clean and the employees are nice (lots of turnover of staff). Caregivers, are not very skilled to support memory residents as a whole.
Activity Director(s)??-Consist of watching tv shows, trivia questions, (asked of people that are asleep) and wasting paper and money on a daily newsletter that no one reads.
In a nutshell; the food is fair and the residents are clean and safe. They are not as proficient in the area of memory care as we would like.

Arden Courts is beautiful with wonderful landscaping, and the residents can go outdoors. They have an excellent, friendly, and patient staff. The rooms were beautifully decorated with furniture included, so you don’t bring anything except yourself and clothing. It has an excellent location and great security. I highly recommend it for those with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s.

Father was in Arden Courts of Hazel Crest. Initially, it was a good experience. It's a nice place. We had a few hiccups there -- nothing earth shattering -- but I'm not sure that I would recommend it.

I went to see the Arden. They were for memory care, and they are OK. All the places that I went to, the staff were excellent because they want your business. They all have individual rooms and individual bathrooms. The only thing I didn't care about is the hallway which is kind of long and dark. It wasn't a really bright and cheerful place as I thought. It was a place I was thinking of putting my mother in. The people were eating, and the food looked decent on the table. It didn't look like mush or anything, but I didn't taste anything myself. The dining room has little tables of four with tablecloths. It has china plates and real silverware. Each table has a little centerpiece on it like you would have in your house. They were doing something with music like a twister game on the floor. I couldn't figure out how these people were going to do the twister on the floor. I think they were throwing something on the floor once she says the color. Other group was watching Wheel of Fortune. As for security, you have to buzz in and buzz out.

My father was at Arden Courts of Hazel Crest for two weeks. They were one of the firsts to respond to my call, they were one of the first places that I looked at, and I was just very impressed. They had four different units, they had caregivers on each unit, and I just like the area that it was in. I like that it was just one level. They had a little breakfast area. It was very clean, and the scenery was nice outside and very calming. The staff were very caring and attentive. They knew each of their residents and their needs. They had activities going on all the time for the residents. They play games, watch movies, and go out within the confines of the facility and walk around. Once a month, they have support groups for the other family members so they too could meet other family members and develop a supportive network. I would definitely recommend them.

Arden Courts was really nice. It was clean and everything was in order. The only drawback was it was not affordable. The staff was really nice. They have private rooms, community rooms for activities, and a place where they can sit around and enjoy one another. Each wing had its own dining area.

My sister was impressed by Arden Courts and the convenience of the location for the drive made us decide to choose this place for my dad. The rooms were spacious. My dad was there for only four days in total though. When he arrived, they couldn't handle him so they sent him to a psych ward the next day and he stayed there for 3 weeks. When he came back, he fell and broke his hip so he was hospitalized, had surgery, and a week later, he died. We felt they were not equipped for dealing with his dementia. We sent them a letter but they have not responded. I would not recommend this place.

Although my mom didn't stay long at this facility, the facility was really nice. The atmosphere was very warm and there was quite a bit of outdoor space as well. The security was excellent as residents can roam around freely without loved ones needing to worry about them wandering away. Unfortunately my mom deteriorated quickly after going to this facility and really never had the opportunity to become really well adjusted there.

I had my parent here for a 2 week respite and although it was hard for me coming from our home, all in all the staff was good and friendly. The food was good and after a few days getting adjusted we were managing it o.k. Depending on your seniors needs this place is definately worth a look. They have
a great layout - they have 4 seperate "homes" (wings) that each have a living room, kitchen, dining room for the residents so it has more of a home like setting. The main area has the activity rooms. The residents leave "home" for the activities. The activity coordinator was doing a great job keeping everyone engaged. Like anything, just make sure to check and double check things are understood and happening as they should in regards to meds, etc.
