We began our quest into senior living because of our love for our beloved mother, Mary Bickford, whose needs became too great for us to manage. As we researched senior living options, we were shocked at our findings. The options offered too much or too little – none met her needs and nothing felt like home. Since we couldn’t find what we wanted, we decided to create what we needed. Our main desire was to create a place that helped her achieve an equivalent peace and happiness that she had earlier in her life.
We understand that selecting a senior living community for your loved one is one of the toughest decisions that you will ever face. We will work with you to ensure that the transition is as easy and comfortable as possible. Whether your loved one is at home, in the hospital or even in another state, we can work with your hospital, insurance company, and doctor to make your difficult decision easier on you and your family. Aging can be difficult – but we’ve also seen the beauty in aging. Our mother’s happiness inspired us. We created Bickford for her and now we’re devoted to serving yours. We look forward to meeting you soon.

We visited Bickford of Tinley Park and it's a very nice assisted living community. They showed me their activity calendar and it had movies, bingo, and crafts. They also had a therapy room and a salon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offered to have my mom come there again to spend the day if she liked if she was going to choose to go there.
The room that we saw was spacious and nicely decorated. It was slightly a bit smaller than at the other place we visited, but it would still be adequate and would not deter me from choosing the facility. It was upgraded and very clean too.

I chose Bickford of Tinley Park because they would accept me with my issues and problems. I can't think of anything to say about what I like best, but I've had things taken from my room which was quite upsetting. Most of the staff members are very nice and very accommodating. But you have some here that are rude to the residents, which I did not appreciate. Sometimes, the food is good, and sometimes it isn't. They offer activities, though I haven't gone to many of them. They have a salon and a courtyard, but in terms of value for the money, I think I'm paying too much.

Everything was gorgeous there at Bickford of Tinley Park. I liked the scenery and the rooms. They had respite, but they can't guarantee me a room because they only have one room for respite. That's the only thing I didn't like about them. You put a downpayment, but it's not a guarantee whether you can get it or not. The staff was very professional and let me talk to the nurse on-staff. They have a library, a dining room, and a living room. Everything was just the best. They have a lot of accommodation in the bathroom, and they have housekeeping. They have a beauty salon, a recreation room, a dining room, a living room, and computers. Everything was real beautiful. The staff always contacts me, talks to me, and lets me know what is going on.

Bickford of Tinley Park was very nice, but they only accommodate patients 65 and over, and my brother is 60. The room was beautiful. There were residents playing bingo and other residents watching TV. It was a nice, friendly place. They showed me the exercise room and the physical therapy room.

The staff I met at Bickford of Tinley Park was nice and friendly. It's a two-year facility that's well maintained and well laid out. It's only one building with 66 beds and 16 beds of memory care. It has a very nice and friendly kind of a environment. They had a fitness center, a beauty shop, an outside activities director, they do off campus stuff, they had a shuttle, an activities room, and a center courtyard for walking, for barbecues and things like that. They kept the seniors pretty busy for the month.

I visited this facility looking for a placement for my wife. I focused on the memory care unit which is in a large circle design so a resident can simply keep going and eventually come back to their own room.
I was impressed with this facility, especially the staff. This was the first memory care facility I visited and the staff was very patient in explaining many of its features in a way that was useful in my other site visits. The staff, including the marketing people giving the tours referred to people by their names and stopped and talked to them along the way. Management personnel are included in actually running some activities in the facility with the residents.
The facility is fairly new (July 2016) but already seems to be well organized with its staff and procedures in place.
While the pricing structure for the Assisted Living portion is based on levels of care needs and room styles, the memory care is based on a flat fee structure with one style of room.

Our experience at Bickford of Tinley Park was excellent. It was very impressive. The rooms were adequate. The dining area was very nice, very welcoming, and had a warm feeling. It’s a brand new facility. It’s only been open less than a year, so it’s very nice and clean.

Bickford of Tinley Park evaluated my mom twice and felt that she was a good fit, but I was disappointed because it wasn't cheap to stay there, and they have a point system, like if you get from 0 to 10 points, they charge you an extra $30 a day. We were doing that because they were supposed to be cleaning her room, but it was only cleaned once, and that was when we made a big stink about it. The toilet was soiled, and it would be like that week after week, and I'd be emptying the garbage cans myself. Wednesday was supposed to be their cleaning day when they're supposed to clean her room, change her linens, and wash her towels, and that didn't happen. After we gave a 30 day notice that we were moving, I thought things got a little bit worse in terms of attempting or even trying. I talked to one of the managers -- Courtney -- because I wasn't happy that my mom's room is not being cleaned. She claimed that my mom refused to let them in to clean her room, but my mom has stayed at a different place and is accustomed to having her room cleaned once a week and that had never been a problem. So I told her "Well, you have a memory care, and if patients who have dementia refuse, you let the place get filthy? How do you handle that? Do you just let the filth accumulate and the garbage cans are running over?" I was really just so disappointed, and I told her that I was. We showed the guy manager the bathroom and the paper that we deliberately put on the floor which was there for a week. Nobody vacuums, and you could write your name in the dust. They could have been a little bit more helpful than they were. I came one morning, and my mom was sitting in a chair with her robe on and I asked her what happened, and she said she fell. I don?t know what time the nurses come in to do anything, but apparently they didn't know or see anything. I was there for an hour trying to get my mom to drink something because I thought she was lightheaded, and I ended up taking her to the hospital because she was dehydrated and they ended up keeping her. However, it's a very beautiful place.

Bickford of Tinley Park was very nice. The staff was very good, very helpful, and very thorough in explaining everything. The dining area was very nice and roomy. The food was very tasty, and the chef was very nice. Every room had its own bathroom. Their price seemed to be competitive, and the location was nice.
