My mother went to the Moorings 3 times for rehab out of Hosp. first was such a relief as opposed to other scary cold facilities, seemed higher end all around,no complaints about anything.2nd visit, staff were more deceptive, offended by normal questions, standoffish,I'm not a hot shot causing waves.Constantly went through her room & moved & relocated her things. Some really head strong nurses aids.Became unpleasant.3rd tie breaker stay same as second, charm of the first stay was erased, placed on lower level in room with a very old resident who didn't move for 2 days & died before us.Residents family were put off by my mother being there at that time,no choice.maybe it's better now ? they say "at any given time it changes" not to generalize. Never going back,Physical therapy was above average & the redeeming factor here, the rest was like any other.

The Moorings was a very beautiful facility at first sight. What initially drew us in was their professional website & the highly manicured property. Looking at the grounds & outside of the facility, it resembles a hotel. The entrance also is very clean & elegant. The intake staff were very kind & courteous, but unfortunately are unreachable after moving in. There really is not continuity of care at this facility, which can be somewhat frustrating for the family & confusing to the new resident. The quality of the caretakers is highly variable as well. Some were excellent, while others were extremely subpar. It's also important to note that the entrance/lobby & model apartments are vastly differently from the actual working facility. The actual facility itself is in need of updating & should really be cleaned more often. There are amenities like a pool & scenic places to sit outside, but it was difficult most times to find someone to assist us to utilize those luxuries. One thing we did like was the large birdcage filled with very beautiful birds & the small giftshop, although it was somewhat overpriced. The meals were fairly good, but portions were sometimes a bit too small & snacking became common. Overall, we were not as satisfied with this facility as we would have hoped. There just was not enough consistency to make it enjoyable. It seems as though people are drawn in by the aesthetics of this facility, then are disappointed when the expected level of care & commitment of the staff is not received.
