Elmhurst Extended Care Center was excellent. I was there for rehab and the people were very friendly and they got great food. It's a small place and I think that's why it's so very good and very personable. They remember you and they remember your name. The owner comes and does it himself with you. They had activities every day, several times a day and they were very involved with all of the residents. There were two or three activity people and they played games and did physical/fitness exercises. Then of course we had individual therapy, too, based on our individual needs. The rehab was just excellent. The facility was very homey. I've been in other places that were a lot more modern and a lot fancier, but the warmth, the compassion, and the friendliness were sometimes lacking in the more modern, up-to-date, current facilities. This facility has been around for a while. My husband was there several times and I've been also there twice for different rehabs. It's good.

Elmhurst Extended Care Center is a rehab, nursing, and Alzheimer's care place. I found them to be a little less pricey, though they weren't too expensive. The person I dealt with was very nice. He took me on a little tour. The place itself was not too bad; it was clean. I found it a little bit dreary, but not by a lot. It was not as bad as the other one.

Elmhurst was snooty. It required two years self-pay upfront before they take Medicaid, and they gave off an attitude of, "Don’t waste our time if you can’t meet these requirements." It’s not in the woods, but it gives you a feeling of being in the woods. It was average in cleanliness and maintained well. The first staff I saw turned me off from the place.

Elmhurst Extended Care Center is a place that everyone cares. It is a family owned facility and the administrator is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to all residents. All staff has been there a number of years and know the residents by name. It is a home-like atmosphere. Rehabilitation services are excellent. This facility is a gem.
