I am living in Avenida Naperville for about a year and a half now. Breakfast is at 8:00 and by the time we've socialized and gotten through, it's 9:00 or 9:15 in the morning. I would take a walk in the morning before breakfast. I would do some of the activities, there's the activity room where I can play cards or poker or Mexican Train, and I do a lot of walking. That keeps me busy and provides basic socialization. There are a lot of things to do, so if you're not busy, it's because you don't want to be. The staff is fantastic. They also have a woodworking shop during the summer and they have all the amenities including a swimming pool, unfortunately, it gets closed in the winter. They have all kinds of fitness programs that people participate in all year round, there are enough different kinds of clubs around like a bridge club, euchre club, book clubs, and everything to keep you busy. This place provides a continental breakfast, and other than that, I cook my own food. I eat their breakfast, but it's not cooked, they have cereal, rolls, bagels, plenty of coffee, cheese sticks, oranges, bananas, depending on the season, and avocados.

We toured Avenida Naperville, which I liked very much, but it was way too expensive. I was looking for a large unit, so I liked the largest one they had. It was a two-bedroom, two-bath. I thought overall it was beautiful and very clean and it's new. Everyone I saw there was very active and very friendly. It had a lot of activities available and a variety. It would be easy to make friends there and it would be easy to find things to do. You could choose everything you want to do. You could stay in your own apartment and feel like you have your own private place. You could cook your own meals. Laundry is not included, but they have a quick housecleaning once a week. The location was good. All the people were very friendly. We went there twice. We went to one of their activity days and of their normal monthly party days. They invited us because we were interested in their place. They gave us a drink and cake, so it was a treat they give out once a month. They had music. It was supposed to be around the pool, but it was too hot, so they had it inside. It's a very active, happy-looking place.

Avenida Naperville was shiny and new, and I did not have to have my 3 meals there. I would only have breakfast and I preferred that very much. I'm not there yet but I had my lease with them so I'm slowly moving things in and getting to know more about it. I was there on Friday and I'm going there later today. The place is an independent active living for 62+ and there's a certain energy there that I could feel when I walked in there. They have a lot of activities that fit all kinds of people. Other than games and things like that, they have something called the one-day university in their media room where good college professors are on video and they talk about various subjects. It's very interesting because I've gone to those in person and enjoyed them. Here, I can go without paying. The staff was very friendly. They never put any pressure on me. They just showed me around and told me the different options I had and they never called me or bugged me. They just let me take my time and figure out that I wanted it. They have an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub. They have a very big gym and a very large courtyard for warm weather. They have a cozy bistro and they have a very big room which has a fireplace that goes from the outside to the inside. They have a library, a media room, a game room, and a private dining room.
