Most nursing assistants are mean. If you don't cooperate they tell the doctor that you need to be in/on the mental ward. Patients are left waiting to be cleaned from bowel movements because they are understaffed. The facility stinks most of the time. They do not pay attention to allowed medicine per month approved by insurance and you are billed for the excess. If your insurance does not approve of your next allotment of days you are not notified, you are excessively billed for poor service. Do not leave your loved one at this facility.

Do not let your loved one stay at any Meadowbrook Manor. They do not care for their residents and the facilities are not maintained. Residents don’t have access to phones and the staff is absolutely horrible

“A Refreshing Experience that I had to Share” A little background on how my mom landed as Meadowbrook. My mom suffered a nasty fall in the home that resulted in fractured pelvis and a nasty gash in her head that required stiches. After a four day stay in the hospital, inpatient care was recommended to us. My mom actually lives in Chicago, but I live in the Western suburbs and my brother works in the area as well, so when searching for a facility, convenience and location was our main concern. As with many, having a loved one in a facility whether it’s short stay or extended, can be a scary experience. The idea of my mom being somewhere other than her home brought about many emotions. My mom was transferred to Meadowbrook on 09/25 and her stay extended thru 10/15. Upon her arrival the intake process was seamless. She was taken to her room and various exams and test were performed. The exam was based on the injuries she sustained in the fall. Her medications were reviewed and the rest of the first day was spent on getting settled. She came in during lunch time so she received lunch shortly after arriving. Let’s speed up this review up a bit because I can be wordy. Please keep in mind, my mom stayed in the short stay wing so all staff references and experiences are based on the short stay area. For the loved one, it may be a good idea to bring all of their toiletries as well as any other familiar articles that may make them feel at ease. Blankets, towels, bedding and any scents would be good. Meadowbrook provides laundry services if needed but the family also has the option of handling those services as well. We participated in the many activities offered at Meadowbrook such as Yahtzee and Bingo. Meadowbrook also has movie night on Friday’s, chocolate chip cookies for residents nightly and a cozy living room area with a Kitchen and eating area for residents as well as their families. The living room area is where I met many other residents and their families which added to the close knit feeling that we had while staying there. The Physical and Occupational therapy team at Meadowbrook was phenomenal. After a brief screening assessment on day two, therapy began with sessions each day. Some days my mom actually received both PT and OP on the same day. Progress in both my mom’s gait and mobility was seen by us in less than a week. When she arrived at Meadowbrook, she experienced pain in most any movement. After a couple of weeks of therapy, she still experienced pain but it was more related to soreness from activity and exercise. Pain medication minimized with each day of therapy and if any medication was needed, Tylenol was sufficient. When she arrived she was actually taking Tramadol for pain. In getting to know a few of the residents as well as their families, I’d say everyone had mixed reviews on the food. My mom actually like every dish she had during her stay. I was impressed with more than a few of the lunches and dinners my mom received. The smell and presentation was inviting and portions were perfect. Some seniors have smaller appetites and I’ve noticed with my mom that sometimes too much food can be overwhelming for her. I have only one negative blip during our stay that I share only to also mention that my concerns were fully noted and addressed. On the second day of my mom’s stay, her aide assigned during the day left her unattended in the bathroom for a longer than acceptable period of time. I was actually on the phone with her during this time so I was able experience how long she was left alone directly. I addressed by concerns later that day to Meadowbrook’s Administrator Amy. She carefully and intently listened to my concerns and assured me that what we experienced was unacceptable and would not happen again. I thank you so much Amy for taking our concerns seriously and ensuring that the rest of my mom’s stay would be worry free. I have some special shout out’s to some of the staff: Nurse Joe Joe - It was such a pleasure. Your smile and gentle demeanor put my mom at ease each day. Nurse Rea - We always looked forward to seeing you come in. Always so patient and kind to my mom and always made us feel welcome when we were there to visit. Nurse Priyaka - What can I say? You are exceptional. That day with the lost partial was epic. Without you, the partial would have been lost forever. We are so grateful to you and your extra service. Tonya – Thank you for always checking in on my mom and making sure that everything was ok. I enjoyed our conversations when you would stop by or see us in the living room. Maria – You were such a joy to see each day when bringing my mom her dinner. You have such a great personality and your exuberance is so endearing. We thank you for cheering up our mom each day with your endearing spirit. Muchas gracias!! Alfred – My brother attended most all of mom’s sessions and he was impressed with your patience as well as expertise in not only challenging my mom but also determining how strenuous her therapy should be on a day to day basis. Nurse Mary Ann – Thank you for being so kind and patient. Your smile and happiness was contagious. You were always so kind and concerned for my mom’s well-being and overall comfortableness. We left humbled and refreshed at the time we shared at Meadowbrook. The staff as well as the residents and their families became very near and dear to me as well as my brother. In fact, my mom’s stay was so impactful on my brother and I that we have both inquired about volunteering. My mom is on the road to recovery and I thank your entire team for being part of continued journey to recovery. Thanks so much

My mother is in Meadowbrook Manor & I was told they no longer assist the patients for doctor visits & I should have received a letter. Well, I never received a letter & isn't this a service that they are suppose to provide??? I cannot take off of work & what if the patients didn't have family??? What would Meadowbrook do??? Not care????

Meadowbrook Bolingbrook was a good community, and their staff was good. My husband was there for about a week and I think it’s a good place to go to. They have activities for the residents, and an ice cream shop. Medicare pays for everything for us.

We had to discharge my mother on Christmas Eve from a local hospital, with 24 hours’ notice on Christmas weekend. We had to quickly find a rehab unit with an open bed that could accept her. We worked with two lists, one provided by the hospital social worker and one provided by an employee help service through work. We called facilities within a seven-mile radius of our home. We visited three, spoke to six, but because of the holiday weekend, it was difficult to reach admissions staff. Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook didn't have a room available right away, but a guest was leaving soon. Ralph, the Meadowbrook Administrator, suggested that after visiting the other facilities, if we wanted to bring her there, he would fix a temporary room for her. We did end up choosing Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook after visiting two other facilities. We got Ralph on Christmas Eve day, he was driving the dialysis van because he didn't want to ask staff to work on Christmas Eve. He was good to his word, and got a room ready that afternoon. We moved my mother during a very cold, snowy Christmas Eve night. I’m happy to report it was the right decision. The care my mother has received is compassionate, friendly, and kind. The staff have been wonderful. Ralph has stayed involved, the Director of Residence Services, Erwin, has been great. They all have helped my family make the best of a difficult situation, and we are all very grateful.

Meadowbrook Manor is working with my husband. He needed to get himself back to walking, so they take him to walk in the halls for exercises. He is coming along good and can now move around pretty well. The food is good. I've had lunch with him, and they have good food. He didn’t like it at first because he wasn’t used to anything like that, but now he is calm and much better. Sometimes, you smell odors from the hallways but other than that, I think the place is good.

We have chosen Meadowbrook Manor. They are very courteous and nice. They're above average. It is like an industrial park. The staff seems very good. The place is very good. Its cleanliness stood out to me.

Apparently dietary department has a problem as my sister had the following on her printout: dislikes: Fish,Rice, Turkey...you know how many times I have visited her at dinner time and she has fish in particular....it has been made clear to them she dislikes and will not eat.. I have left them notes, her daughter has spoken to them... What must you do to get these foods eliminated and replaced with what she will eat...

My husband receives very good care at Meadowbrook Manor. The staff is very friendly, nice, and seems to enjoy the residents. They're very nice to my husband so he seems to be doing very well over there. Today, I saw one of the staff even hugging one of the residents and touching that person. They're just real pleasant. The facility also takes Medicaid.

We had the need to bring my eighty six year old grandfather to the Meadowbrook Manor. The facilities staff were very pleasant and helpful especially when we came to visit our loved one. They took time to explain my grandfather's progress and were there to assist with his personal care. However, I felt they were a bit lax in their attention to my grandfather on the days we did not visit. There were a few times we arrived to find him with a full diaper or dirty bathroom. It may have just been the time of day, but after a few incidents we had to complain. They were very nice about the complaint and did make an effort to keep him and his bathroom cleaner. My grandfather received daily physical therapy and a special diet. The facilities are decent, but sometimes the hallway smells bad. The carpets need to be cleaned as they look and smell bad, at least, on the first floor. One of my issues with the nursing home is that none of the elderly people there look happy. They pretty much all look zoned out or sad. This may just be what people are like in nursing homes but it was just sad to see. My grandfather was on a liquid diet while he was there, so he thought the food was awful. But the dining room looked clean. The cooked food I saw looked decent and the residents seemed to be enjoying it.

I have had both my mother and my father as residents of Meadowbrook, and I commend the CNA's and staff for the care they have taken of my parents. Especially the CNA's, and the Physical and Occupantional Therapists, for the day in and day out patience, training, caring and friendly attitude at all times to the folks that visit and the residents that stay there. I am there on a weekly basis, and the staff is always there to greet me with a smiling face and although they are most times understaffed, their wilingness to stay positive around the residents and take the best care they can offer is always their foremost priority. Kudos to them!

I had a wonderful experience with the Meadowbrook Manor Senior Home and Care. My ex husband's grandmother was homed there in her 90's. She was taken extremely good care of during her stay there. The nurses were fabulous, doctors came on regular routine visits as required for her needs, and the home had very clean living conditions along with several activities for the seniors in this nursing home to be part of to keep their social, emotional, and mental health strong. I was very impressed with this home and highly recommend them to others in the area and in need of Senior Care for their loved ones.
