About This Community

To us at Parkway Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois, assisted living means two things: you do the living and we help you live. Our personal assistants provide what you need when you need it. Here, the emphasis is less on paperwork and more on people. Our licensed nurse and certified medication aides get to know our residents like family, with all of their unique needs and preferences. It's like home.

Dining is a focal point of our residents' day at Parkway Gardens. It starts with an open breakfast with eggs just the way you like them. We accommodate our early risers ready for toast and coffee as well as those who can't start the day without a big hot breakfast. Comfort foods, foods familiar and favorite, are part of our menu.

Our admission counseling services are comprehensive. Our administrator helps guide the family through all of the care options available to them as well as through the maze of paperwork involved with accessing our public long term care benefits. Making it easy on the family is our first priority at Parkway Gardens.

At The Arbors at Parkway Gardens, living with Alzheimer's becomes less of a challenge for you and your loved one. We combine the intimacy of assisted living with specialized care for dementia. The size of the Arbors promotes a comforting, calming environment. With no more than 15 rooms, the Arbors co-exists with a sister assisted living facility, yet remains separate. Care is provided in a building specifically designed with the care of the Alzheimer's resident in mind. We consider each resident's own strengths and weaknesses to weave a seamless cloth of individualized care. We also incorporate the latest approaches to this challenging disease into the daily routines and activities of all our residents. It's difficult to even search for proper care while tending to someone with Alzheimer's. Each day presents new challenges to patients and their caregivers. At the Arbors we offer a shelter of care and advice for the entire family.

My mother stayed at Parkway Gardens memory care for respite for a while. It's a very nice facility. As far as the facilities go, it's a little pricy, but the staff was very good. Of course, they're experiencing the same problems as everybody else is having with staffing, but for those that were there, it was very good. They had great activities for them. The food was as well as it could be. It was overall a nice place. They come to the dining table and eat together. There were three meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The activities were very well coordinated because they had a great activities director. She made sure she recognized everything. Whatever they were celebrating, she made sure they were celebrated to the highest. Even in the midst of COVID, they were able to take small groups on outings, so that was refreshing for the residents there. They do the laundry. She was in a private room. Everything was there for her. We were there pretty much every day, but she was well taken care of. There was a beauty salon area, but due to COVID, all the staff was not there. One of the young ladies took it upon herself to go ahead, to make sure mom washed her hair. I can only speak for my mom. My mom was getting her hair rolled every night. When we weren't there to do it, somebody made sure that her hair was manicured during the night so she can look cute the next day. She's in a studio. The bathroom was there and you could set a little living room area up as well as the bedroom area, but it's just one big room. Food choices were not the best, but they were working on it.
