I am very pleased with the care my father has received at Pine Acres of Dekalb, IL. The facility is staffed by a very compassionate and dedicated team. It is a very clean and inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for skilled nursing or rehabilitation.

I had visited Pine Acres. It's location was convenient. People were friendly. The staff was very nice. However, it was small and they only had halls and rooms. As it was a skilled nursing, there were no need for activities or programing for the residents.

Pine Acres is a smaller facility in DeKalb, less opulent than some of the others but still quite rich in amenities and ancillary services. I'm sure my friend is glad to be there, and I know he enjoys the attention and genuine care he receives from the staff. I find it particularly helpful that visiting hours are so flexible. I can drop by anytime, meet the nurses and staff on each shift, and get to know the environment in a very careful way. It's important to say that, all in all, I have been pleased with what I see at Pine Acres. That said, the down-side -or an opportunity for improvement- is communication with family members. A few times there have been medical worries in the night with my friend. The protocol is that the assigned (and legally arranged for) contacts are supposed to be called. A few times that has not happened, and it was very disturbing to us. Nothing bad happened, and I do understand that in the middle of an emergency people aren't necessarily referring back to a written protocol. Nonetheless, those arrangements are in place because we care about the person, and found it disturbing.
