My sister moved into The Rose of East Des Moines, and it's a very comfortable place. It's well maintained, and when you walk in it's calm -- and that's what we're looking for. The staff is very friendly, and they are willing to help out in any way they can. I know there are movie nights, and they have outings and things like that.

Rose of Des Moines' room seemed very nice. It was a very nice sized room for a one-bedroom. The lobby area was a little shabby. The administrator was not really well versed on cultural differences in dealing with people. Also, it is a little bit off-putting that you look straight into the dining room when you walk in the door. The placement of it was a little odd. They do have onsite nursing care 24/7. They are close to transportation.

While searching for a place for my friend's mother to live, we visited the Rose of Des Moines assisted living facility.
We really liked the well-kept park setting because the outdoors had always been a big part of her life. My friend's mother enjoys socializing with a variety of types of people and is very interested in the types of cultural outings and events offered. During colder weather there are also plenty of scheduled activities to participate in.
A variety of fresh, healthy foods are offered and suit all dietary needs. We could see a wide variety of interesting menu choices. Snacks are available all day every day.
The rooms were all nicely sized and decorated. The staff and management were very accommodating and eager to make the residents and visiting families comfortable.
My friend's mother at times has memory issues, and there is always someone close by to assist her. Those who were not ambulatory seemed well-cared for.
The facility encourages family members to visit regularly and participate in some of the annual activities, such as barbeques and holiday parties.
The private spaces were nicely decorated, fresh, bright and part of an easily accessible community for all types of people.
Every resident appeared to be very well cared for in a peaceful, yet fun environment by kind, caring and attentive staff.
