My mom and stepdad are at Corridor Crossing Place. I have been in their room and the dining area. The staff is very friendly. As far as I know, they have a chapel, and from what I understand, they've got some kind of clergy. They got a spa there. I keep wanting to turn into that room and go to the spa. My stepdad can't eat very much because it hurts his mouth, but he does eat there so the food must be acceptable to him. The staff has been very friendly. However, it's kind of confusing to get around the facility. It's clean, it's well built, and there's no obvious dirt anywhere. They keep it clean. They got bus trips, field trips, bingo, painting, and chairs calisthenics. I would get into them.

We went to see the Corridor Crossing Place. It was very small, and mom didn't like it at all. It wasn't divided. There wasn't a separate bedroom. It was all one room sort of, and she wouldn't want to live in that room was what she said. It's a lot smaller facility, which may have been good; but it's also a lot smaller room. The people were lovely and were fine. They were in the cafeteria area, I think they were watching TV when we went by and looked in. It was nice. It's just that mom didn't like it. There just wasn't enough space.

Corridor Crossing Place was very clean, the staff that we talked to was very friendly. It's just that they didn't have a separate bedroom; it was just like one big room and that was the only downfall. They had crafts; they had a nice courtyard which was all enclosed. My mom has a dog and that would have been important. As far as the inside, it was very clean but on the outside, they still have work to do for the torrential rain last summer.

My mother is in Corridor Crossing Place. They have crafts, bingo, and puzzles. The food is not bad. Her room has been kept clean. They have a visiting room for the family and a library. They're doing a lot of updates at this time. It could be a lot cleaner if not for the construction. Overall, it's not a bad place. Most of the staff is pretty good. There are a couple who seem like they don't like their job and are not so good.

My mother is in Mayvil, and it's been OK as far as I can tell. They have bingo, and on Presidents' Day, they had some people acting like presidents. They serve three meals a day and they provide snacks at 8:00 or 9:00. They do her laundry and help her with showering and getting dressed if she needs it. It's pretty clean, but they could do a better job cleaning inside the rooms.
Don't do it!.
Probably the worst assisted living facility in Iowa.
There is someone else "running it" once a week. There are people who bathe residents, that have no certification or anything. The place is super run down. Shared bathroom!? It's an assisted living facility and you have to shower in a big shared room? Gross.
If you would like your family member to be a little happy, stay away from this dump.

My visit at Brookdale Cedar Rapids (Formerly Emeritus at Silver Pines) was very good. I had lunch there in the dining area, and it was good. I liked the way the facility was laid out. I found the staff to be very pleasant. I saw the salon and the facilities where you shower. There weren't any showers attached to the rooms themselves, but there were half baths with the lavatory and commode in the rooms. It had a nursing home feel the way it was set up, and I am certainly not ready for that. I like that they had a base amount, and then the more needs that I might have were add-ons to that base amount. They had quite a few activities. They were getting ready to play bingo, which seemed to be a favorite of theirs. There were three different areas where they could go sit outside if they wanted to. If there were people who smoked, they had a little shed for smokers outside the facility, but it was a protected area. There was a nice large room that you could have family gatherings, actual cooking facilities, and access to the outdoors for family members' children.

Everyone at Brookdale seemed nice, but at that point they don’t have what I needed. The man there was very nice, and helpful. They showed us one apartment for what they had available, but it was too small.

The rooms at Brookdale Cedar Rapids were very small, and I just was not that impressed. The staff were really nice, and there was a nice dining area. Looking at how they managed the meals and the people coming in, it was pretty good.

Brookdale was clean and neat. I like what I saw. The people were very nice, friendly, and cordial. I like the idea that if you run out of money, they will keep you until the end. The food was very good.

Brookdale Cedar Rapids (Emeritus at Silver Pines) had friendly staff and casual atmosphere. The rooms were small, but they were clean.

Emeritus at Silver Pines was good. The director showed me around. It smelled clean. It looked like an older building. They showed me one apartment that was available. It seemed a little bit small, but it seemed wide enough to accommodate my parents. The staff was friendly. It looked like the residents were well taken care of.

We visited Emeritus at Silver Pines for my mom. The overall experience was good. The second visit was better. The second time around, the staff was better. They were nice, polite, and accommodating. The facility was clean, and there were no odors. It was a nice place. It had a nice dining area. The only thing that I really didn't like about it was the size of the rooms. The rooms were too small; they were more like nursing homes. We didn't like those. That type of atmosphere to me would have been depressing because you're in such a small area.

We just like Silver Pines (Emeritus at Silver Pines). I like this facility because it is all on one floor. The minute we walked in the door, it felt like home, it felt welcoming. Everybody was very nice and pleasant. The other residents would at least say hello. Some of the places we visited, they didn't even recognize that you were there. We went in at meal time and everyone was talking to each other, laughing and seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were happy with the way the residents interacted with each other. The staff was friendly, very pleasant and willing to help us with any questions we have. We have eaten there and we have seen the menu. Our meal was very good. They have bingo three to four times a week. They have a chat group where you can join to discuss things like current events. They have an activity room for residents. They take groups out in a mini bus -- sometimes they go out to eat, to the Dairy Queen, go for a ride, shopping or to doctor's appointments. I would definitely recommend this facility to others. The only thing that's going to be different for me is that there is no kitchenette and no full bathroom in the room, so I'm going to have to get used to not cooking and going to a shower, but that's OK. It will be fine. I'll get used to it.

Emeritus at Silver Pines was really nice. The staff was very good. She called us a couple of times and she was very thorough and clear about what they can do for us.

The rooms at Emeritus Silver Pines were really outdated. It didn't smell really good when we walked into the building. Those were the kind of things that turned us off. The staff seemed all nice. They had a nice, big open recreation area. The dining room looked clean.

My grandmother-in-law was at this facility for just a short time. She quickly ran out of money and is now staying with my mother and father-in-law. In that time I wasn't overjoyed by the facility. The rooms were smaller than my bedroom. She said it was so small she could not make it feel like her own home. There just was not room for any of her knick knacks and pictures. The common areas were very nice, though, as well as the employees. The people there were kind and helpful. My "Mema", as we call her was staying there for more reasons than the typical resident there is I would think. And the staff was very good with helping take care of her special needs. There are not many options in this area for assisted living residencies. I am not sure what the others are like. So for the staff I would recommend Silver Pines. But if you are claustrophobic and need your space this may not be the place for you.
