Oaks At Towne Lake is a new facility. I like the fact that they had wall pictures of all the veterans in the hallways. My dad's a veteran, so that was good because there are a lot of the veterans who are prideful and proud of that annunciation. There are a lot of people that are happy and engaged, people that were walking around that were residents there. It just seems like a pretty happy life for these people. Their staff was awesome. She was very thorough with everything. We spent a lot of time going through, and she didn't even get into pricing until the very end, which usually is a good telltale. It's not just about money. She was very thorough in explaining everything as far as the facility and what they have, talking about even the physical therapy rooms and the barbers that come on-site every Wednesday. She was extremely accommodating and asked a lot of questions about my dad, the status he was in, and what he would need. She was very engaging. They were great. The only thing I didn't like about the rooms was, there wasn't a separate bedroom. It was kind of a partition, so it has a hotel feel to it, almost. I would say that was good, but not great. I was looking for something that was a separation of bedroom versus living room. That was probably the one thing I'd say was below par, thinking about my dad and what his thought process would be. It was very well maintained. They had rails on every hallway to accommodate the elderly because they can keep them stabilized. It was well kept, and it's a newer facility, so it had a more modern feel to it and was cleaner than an older facility.

Oaks At Towne Lake was our second choice. It is a really lovely facility. The outside is very rustic-looking. Inside, there is a beautiful small Zen garden. We toured both studio and one-bedroom apartments. The one-bedroom apartments have a half-wall between the living space and the bedroom, which is very nice. They have what looks like a miniature full-sized refrigerator and freezer, nice cabinets, and a full sink in their very lovely kitchenettes. They have a dedicated space for a chapel for religious and faith-based services. They have big activity spaces. They have a dedicated movie theater, an activity room, a salon onsite, and a cozy common area with fireplaces. So it is a lovely property and the people are very nice. We tried their food, but it wasn't as close to restaurant's servicing food. It was a bit more institutional. It wasn't as good.

I toured Oaks at Towne Lake for my mom. Nobody was at the front desk when I walked in. It was dark and they had a huge round front desk. It was on the weekend, but there was nobody inside. I waited maybe ten minutes and then somebody walked over and met me for the tour. A stranger could just walk in and steal stuff and walk out and nobody would ever know. I guess my first impression is just walking in and not having anybody there to meet me when they know I had an appointment was not very welcoming. Plus, it didn't feel secure. It was a multiple level building, which wasn't what I was looking for. I also got turned around a couple of times. They'd take me up here and down the hall through a door and show me something, and then we'd get back to somewhere. You couldn't figure out the layout in your head. Everything else is just kind of generic and I felt it was a little bit too big and too open and too overwhelming. They were friendly and the staff's daughter was there. They had a big event going on that just finished like an Easter egg hunt or something. They do a lot of activities for families to come in and do stuff, but that was the only one I knew about.

I am moving into Oaks at Towne Lake. The facility is very clean, and the staff is very nice. The apartment is small, but it has its own kitchen with a microwave and a refrigerator with a freezer. I'll be moving my furniture in there, so it'll be my bed. The staff was fine, and she did a thorough job. She was helpful and friendly. Some of the residents were doing puzzles and some of them were watching TV. Most of them go there for lunch or dinner. They also take trips to go up and see the scarecrows in the city of Woodstock. The dining area was very fine.

We went to the Oaks At Towne Lake. It looked well established, it was very nice, clean, it had a lot of activities, and it looked real nice. The staff was very nice. They seemed to have a lot of things going on for the residents there. It was very active. We saw one of the rooms, but we really didn't go deep into that. It was farther away from where we live.
