Brookdale Hermitage Boulevard is just beautiful. I am a retired Florida State employee, and they do give discounts for that. Although it's not that much, anything would help, but it's just a little bit beyond my means. The tour I had was a very good experience. The lady was able to explain everything to me. They had small one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. They really did a terrific job in the way they projected the home. The staff members were all knowledgeable, very friendly, and courteous to everyone that I saw. Their rooms were very nice and adequate for what the residents' needs were. The residents that I talked with seemed to be very happy there. They have plenty of activities, and a place to watch movies. The staff showed me all the top honors awards that they got for their food there. There are all kinds of restaurants, shops, and everything nearby, so it's very good.

I liked Brookdale Hermitage Boulevard. It was smaller. It was a single-floor facility so there were no elevators required or needed. It looked like they had a pretty good staff-to-resident ratio. I was pretty impressed with it. The rooms were nice. The layout was good and the staff seemed good.

The staff at Brookdale was very warm and engaging. The decor of the facility needs some upgrades such as the carpet and cabinetry in the resident rooms shown to us were stained. We liked the layout of the facility and my grandmother liked the room size. We are considering this facility as an option.

We visited Brookdale Hermitage Boulevard. I didn't think it was that clean, and there were maintenance issues. It was more like a rehab facility than a residence. It wasn't of the same caliber of some other communities. It wasn't a good fit for my parents. When you come into the building, which is secured where you can't just come in, you're almost immediately thrown into the dining area, and that wasn't very pleasant. It was very institutional.

Brookdale was a smaller community, not as many people, which would probably have been nice as well. But more expensive than where we are now. The rooms seemed nice, and the people were very nice, but everything was on a smaller scale. They have the usual things -- exercise and Bingo, and they took people out to lunch and stuff, which my mom is not interested in doing, but those kinds of activities like movie nights and things like that.

I visited Brookdale Hermitage Boulevard. It was nice, but it wasn’t a place I want my mother in. It and the rooms were a little too small. The atmosphere was OK and friendly. I wasn’t there very long. The dining room was OK but small. The whole facility's overall appearance needed some upgrades.

My aunt was in Brookdale community in another city, and we moved her to Sterling House of Tallahassee, which is another Brookdale community, so we didn't have to pay a new community fee. The staff is helpful. I did see their dining area, and there is not a lot of continuity at the table setting. The food lacks a lot of styling and color, and it tends to be a little bland. The quality and time of delivery are not consistent. The menu also is unpredictable. The room is fine. The window is nice -- i.e., double-paned window -- and they put blinds. They gave my aunt new carpet. The property is well maintained, and the rooms are nice and clean. It is extremely secure, so much so that we have difficulty of getting in. They do have activities. They have little mind game,s and they have a vehicle that takes them to Wal-Mart and different places like that. However, they could improve on having more alert staff.

The rooms at Sterling House of Tallahassee are very small. I think the staff at this facility is fine and they do their job quite well. Their dining area is open and within a large area. It's nice and clean.

Sterling House was basically a full-service facility; however, what we're most interested in was the fact that my mother-in-law could be transferred to their sister company if she got worse. This facility pretty much offers everything. The staff was very nice and they have a very nice outdoor area. We were able to check out two rooms. They were well maintained and of good size. They did have very nice large walk-in closet and large shower area. There was also a safety feature in the bathroom.

I remember Sterling House especially when I visited several facilities for my mother. It's a very nice and clean facility. It appeared well taken care of. However, the whole complex was a little bit smaller than the ones we looked at. Also, the rooms were not spacious enough and you're very limited in what you can bring in. They're all very similar in size and how they're set-up. Another 25 or 30 square feet would make a difference.
