I've visited the Grand Villa of Sarasota. The floor plans in the rooms were excellent, with kitchenettes that were nice. I was looking at a two-bedroom and they were very nicely laid out. The staff was excellent and the activities and their program plans were full. So there wasn't a lack there. I like the idea that if you go from independent living to assisted living, you don't move, but their assisted living comes to you. I like its location, it's close to town, and they have transportation services available to go to the grocery store or places. If you're ambulatory, it's an easy walking distance from the town with outdoor cafes and stuff. So it was quite nice. It was under relatively new ownership and the facility was being renovated.
I visited Grand Villa of Sarasota simply because I liked the location. It's downtown. However, they did not have much land mass and it was quite small. That also meant the lack of all the activities or clubs and things like that, because they did not have enough base. It's been around for a while, so it was old. Everything else seemed to be fine. The people that I dealt with were very informative and very professional. The lady who did the tour was very good. The individual apartments were fine. It just didn't meet the things that I wanted particularly.
My father moved into Grand Villa of Sarasota. It was very nice. The staff was very kind. The facilities were beautiful, very attractive, and well furnished. Everything's beautiful there. The staff members are very concerned, always check with him, and see what he needs. They take very good care of him. They bring their furniture in there. It's a big room. He is just really happy with it, and so are we. There are five or six things they can do every day. I know he does the walk.
I went to Grand Villa of Sarasota. They were redoing the rooms. They really had a good layout in them, so they were going to be nice: new appliances, new floors, new everything. We toured the independent living, but they have the continuation of care, which was very good. They didn't have a pool though.
They were all very friendly, very happy, and very courteous while we were touring. We were scheduled to go try the food, and we couldn't make it. My wife did not want to go there because of no pool. They had a beautiful area back over there, and they had activities. They weren't boxed in. The one thing that they did have that was not good was the shared parking area. They didn't have their own dedicated parking area. It was first come, first serve with whomever they were sharing with. There were several different places over there. They were doing some remodeling and it was going to be well kept with new furniture and new stuff. It was right near downtown Sarasota and near a hospital.
We have moved into our new place here at Grand Villa of Sarasota. We've been here a whole week now, so it meets our needs quite well. It's very friendly, and we are enjoying it a lot. Our apartment is spacious and nice with a pretty view. The food is really good, and the people are friendly. The view is onto trees, lots of birds, and it looks over a little waterway, and we just really enjoy it. They do all sorts of things, but we haven't done any of them yet. They have two buses and they take you places. They serve us three meals a day and everybody else is very friendly, so it is working out really well. There's a beauty salon and a library, they show movies every day, there are some outdoor areas to use, like there is a patio, and you can have pets too.
My father was at Grand Villa of Sarasota. It was very nice, it was a great location, and it was a good price. The food was excellent. He really liked it. He had a one-bedroom apartment, and it was very nice. They had activities before COVID, but after COVID they pretty much mixed the activities. They had a few after it loosened up, but they had good activities. They took them out on a bus, they had an exercise room, they had a game room on the fifth floor, and they had a pool table.
