I visited The Collier at Naples. They have a full kitchen. It's very nice and homey. It's an older building, but it's neat and clean and has all kinds of amenities. They have a big exercise room with equipment and a movie theater, you can watch any time you want. You can go and ask for a movie you like to see. They have bingo, and group exercises with the staff. They have big birthday parties, and about seven people from there were over a hundred years old. I talked to the people, and they like it there. Their staff is very nice, too. I talked with a lot of people.
If after independent living, you'll need assisted living, you don't have to move. In the same building, they just move you over to a smaller place if you need assistance, or you could stay if you want, you'll just pay more.
The staff were busy. They were cleaning rooms and all that kind of stuff, but every one of them stopped and say hi, even the cleaning people, that was very nice.
I saw the dining area. I talked to the chef; I didn't know she was the chef. It was afternoon, and the dining room was closed, which was around 3:30 PM. The dining room was dark, and she came out from the kitchen. I asked her how she likes it there, she said, "Well, I'm the chef and I have been here for 21 years. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't be here."

I went to The Collier at Naples. They were pleasant and it was a nice facility. The residents that I ran into seemed happy. The price point was comparable to other ones that I've been told about. It didn't seem quite as clean as I thought it should be, and I didn't really see too much going on. I think the residents were meeting in a bar for cocktails and that's the extent. They need to be upgrading the apartments themselves, painting just staying more current and up-to-date in their color schemes and choices, and replacement of carpet and that sort of stuff. It's an older community, so I know that they're revamping it. What I liked most about it was the friendly atmosphere.

The Collier at Naples looks nice. What I was drawn to is the people, the personalities, the interaction between the caretakers and the clients. The clients all seemed engaged and active and interacting with the caretakers, and there were no people alone in their rooms, or alone anywhere. They were all engaged and they all appeared happy. They have gardening, they have a lot of art and craft projects, I think they play some form of ball with a balloon and things like that. The staff seemed sharp, intelligent, personable, warm, engaged, and very happy and upbeat. What I saw and heard about the food, it sounded pretty good. We looked at transitions care, between assisted living and memory care. It’s more assistance than assisted living, but less than total non-functioning memory care. They don’t have sufficient outdoor space; otherwise I would give it a 5.

The Collier at Naples was very nice and the staff was very outstanding, but it was a very old building, and I'm not happy with how it's presented. I visited everything about the place. They should build a new building. It's in the middle of an industrial complex so there's no outside areas or outside activities. There are businesses on both sides of the community so they can't build outside amenities. It looks like an institution.

The rooms were small, and they didn’t seem to have too much land around it. It wasn’t on the top of my list. They had a theater, a game room, and they do arts and crafts. I saw a studio, a 1-bedroom, and a 2-bedroom. I could not live in the studio; it was too small. The common areas were fine, and the dining area was very nice.

My mom is currently on the waiting list. I think it’s a great and very beautiful facility. The people there are just amazing and very friendly like they have known you forever. I had a couple of tours, and I took my mom for lunch on a tour. They have what she needs at assisted living and may transition to memory care later; I think it’s a very good set. The room and dining room were very beautiful, the food was good, and the service was excellent.
