Brookdale Winter Haven was a nice place. It was clean and nicely laid out. The people we talked with were nice. It seemed to have pretty much what we were looking for. We did go through the assisted living quickly, but we mainly focused on memory care. We looked at a private room. They have a larger private room and a smaller one, and we looked at the smaller one. It was nice and it had its own bath. They had an activity room, a library, and a nice courtyard. This is in the memory care unit, and there were a few people out there. They had a good activities list. They had bingo. It's a place I wouldn't mind putting my mother.

We toured Brookdale Winter Haven for my father-in-law. The staff was very nice. The facility was clean and small, and I would feel more comfortable that he would be well attended to. They told me that they had activities all day long for both assisted living and memory care. Even if you are in memory care, they'll let you go into the assisted living side for their activities. The rooms were nice and clean. It looked like everything was taken care of.

Brookdale Winter Haven was outstanding and very clean. The people were nice and attentive. It's a beautiful place. The people's attitude is outstanding. They had a little library and a lot of activities. The place was very well set up. There's also a chef. The room was very nice, like a little hotel room, except not quite as big. It was decorated tastefully and looked like people were able to bring their own stuff, decorate their doors, and put their own touches on things. The grounds were nice.

Brookdale Winter Haven seemed to be very well organized, and had structured events going on for the patients. It was very clean, and it looked very nice. The staff seemed cordial and professional. The rooms were nice. They had screened-in porch. They had full bath with shower. They were doing something, but I did not remember what, in one of the main areas. They were doing something as a group.

My father was in Brookdale up in Connecticut, and Brookdale Winter Haven (Formerly Clare Bridge of Winter Haven) was very similar to what he was used to. They have daily activities -- i.e., arts, music, they do go out -- but not as much as in the other unit. It was a very positive transition. There were a few bumps along the way, but he wasn't expecting to go into an Alzheimer's unit, so that was a little bit of a shock for him. He is very frail, and they didn't feel he could live in the assisted living part, and he needed more attention. It's very clean, but it's a difficult situation. It's probably not as clean as the other regular assisted living facilities, which could be expected considering the clientele that's there, but they do a good job.

I wanted my wife to go to Clare Bridge, but unfortunately there was no availability at that time. I've been there several times because my daughter-in-law's mother was there and that was an excellent place. The rooms were very nice. It’s a one story building set in a green area with trees, very nice. It looked very homey. The staff seemed to really know what they were doing and everybody in there seemed happy and it was in a very nice condition. It also has a great reputation.

Before I placed my loved one in this facility I was told that they were not providing the care they say they provide. I was actually stopped by a family as they were walking out of the facility and was told "they do not do what they say they do". I was hoping none of it was true because it looked like a very nice place for my loved one. I hate to say it, but they were right. My loved one was left to be in the room all day and their staff does not seem to have the training needed to deal with Alzheimer's and Dementia patients. Residents sit in the dining room staring at their food and staff does not offer help. I removed my loved one from this facility and will not recommend it to anyone else. All these places on paper sound great, but in fact they hope the families dont notice and since our loved ones cant tell us what is going on, how do we know what care they are receiving while we are not there. I should have listened. I also heard it from their own employees, but I thought maybe they had some personal problem with management and refused to believe it. If you can find another facility in the area, dont put your loved one here.

Clare Bridge assisted living was a place both my grandparents stayed for the last part of there lives. It seemed they were always well cared for by the staff and did not seem at all miserable in there surroundings. Having even eaten the food at this assistant care facility and can even vouch for the quality and thought that goes into all of there residents. All together the care here at Clare Bridge seemed to be very good and genuine. This is certainly a place that I would feel safe leaving my parents or grandparents at, which I feel nowadays is a very rare thing to say about assisted living facilities.
