About This Community

At Brookdale Vero Beach South we know that memory losses due to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia are progressive and residents' needs are continually changing. That's why we provide balance in our residents' capabilities, personalities, and preferences to create daily routines that enhance their spirits and increase their sense of purpose. We believe the amount of satisfaction our Alzheimer's and dementia care residents receive from the tasks that fill their days goes a long way to maintaining their sense of purpose and overall satisfaction with life. An integral part of this is our promise to encourage each resident to find Daily Moments of Success. To help our residents achieve these moments, our associates receive the tools and training needed in such key areas as specialized dining and the ongoing monitoring of healthcare and behavioral needs, to name a few.

We provide Alzheimer's and dementia care residents with the lifestyle, housing, and services they need in comfortable surroundings combined with the amenities, programs, and care to help stimulate recognition, recall, and wellness in a safe environment. Through years of caring for individuals with dementia, our professional care staff has learned to create optimal surroundings and approaches to care. Familiar environments that our residents have enjoyed throughout their lives are recreated to help them feel reassured and comfortable. The Alzheimer's and dementia care programs at Brookdale Vero Beach South are built to embrace, not restrict our residents' desire to wander and to provide a sense of belonging.

Brookdale Vero Beach South was fantastic. The people there were very helpful, caring, and willing to work with us. They were willing to work with us on the pricing for certain types of care, which the other places didn't even suggest. I felt like they do care about their people. The facility was very clean, nice, and engaging. The residents were all out and doing things when we were there. They have lots of activities, even on the memory care side. They had somebody come in and play music. They have singing and dancing. They were all engaged, which was very nice and I liked it. Susan in admissions was the one who helped me, and she was fantastic.

My mother is in Brookdale Vero Beach South in the memory care section. I like it because it's a smaller place. I feel that she gets more personal attention there. The staff seems to be very tuned in to her and her needs. The food seems well balanced. My mom seems to eat well there. I've eaten there a couple of times and the food was good when I was there. Before Covid, they did go on bus tours. They talked about picking that up again, but I don't think that started yet. They would go to different ice cream shops, to the beach, and things like that. It's kind of on hold right now. Compared to other places, it's very expensive, but overall it's fair.

NO, "Friend of Family" reviewer. Residents do NOT need lemonade and other junk liquids for "hydration". You need twice as much of that to equal one serving WATER. It's WATER seniors and dementia residents need. It's difficult enough to keep these constantly dehydrated people drinking anything. Brookdale knows what they're doing. I do agree it's nice for people to get outside but lets remember most memory care people don't fit the model of Assisted Living people. That area is more suited to family visits not random wandering all over out there.

Definitely need more staff. Hydration is needed, not just water but the juice and lemonade that's located inside the kitchen. Also snacks; dried up cookies is not going to help them with constipation. They need more fruit in their diet and more drinks, but then of course bathroom help. The ad says outdoor patio, but residents are not allowed out there by themselves. They need fresh air, but not enough staff to sit out there with them. Things like oral hygiene or even clean rooms are hard to find. Staff try their best, but not enough to go around

This facility is beautiful. Most of the employees are gracious and caring. But I do have some issues. It was renovated awhile ago, all looks great, but some items have yet to be finished. Stains on the ceilings, and some of the public restrooms need the finishing touches. CB pridesitselfon it's gourmet meals and attention to details. Nothing could be further from the truth! All I see is horrible meals and unhealthy snacks. Nothing is followed on the printed menus. Unless you call 'burned' pea soup healthy, frozen pizza. Their snacks consist of muffins, cur cakes, or cookies with WATER! No milk, no juices etc. UTI's are rampant with the residents, so they solve it with water? Hardly. Change them more often! Cookis and water, what a joke.
