About This Community

Discover a truly exceptional way of life.

We are a 93 bed Assisted Living with 6 Independent Villa units on our large campus. We are an inspiring retirement community that enables you to design each day as you desire. We are building a brand new tradition by offering “carefree living” in a country club-like setting where our residents continue to enjoy an active, independent, and healthy lifestyle.

Independent Living:

At Canterfield, each new day brings the opportunity to meet new people, explore new passions, and indulge in what you’ve always wanted to do. You’ll be trading the uncertainties of living alone and the responsibilities of maintaining a home for services and amenities designed to make your life rich with opportunity. In addition to a grand lifestyle, we offer security and peace of mind in knowing you can age comfortably at Canterfield as on-campus assisted and memory care, rehabilitation services, and home care are offered.

Assisted Living:

Canterfield offers the security of being cared for throughout the process of growing older by offering you a continuum of care that includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. A care continuum makes it possible for individuals or couples to choose from a variety of environments and services as their healthcare needs change over time. Because different care and housing options are available in the same residential setting, couples can continue to live together in light of their differing healthcare needs. This variety of options instills peace of mind where residents can experience optimal aging and have the security of being cared for throughout the process of growing older.

Memory Care:

At Canterfield, we are dedicated and focused on the needs of our residents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Since there are numerous forms of memory loss, it’s important that we provide individualized services to meet the specific needs of each resident. A uniquely designed care program enables us to provide the right environment to better serve our residents and families. We also provide a full-time activities coordinator to offer one-on-one companionship and coordinate group activities. This personal approach is just what our residents need to receive compassion and support.

The facility is brand and very pretty inside and out, the sales person was very knowledgeable and gracious. Mom and I were treated to a delicious lunch, we had an opportunity to be served by the Dining Room Manager and even spoke with chef. Overall our experience was a good one, with all the staff we meant being very kind. We noticed during the first however when we were invited to stay for entertainment that there was not much activity in the facility and not many resident present to enjoy the music. I decided that we should come back on a weekend , so we returned the following Saturday to check things out for a second time. Mom and I again found little activity taking place and residents sitting around the front desk. I believe from what we have seen that the care, food and environment are most likely fantastic, but a stronger activity calendar and more staff engagement with the residents is a must. This was my first choice because of location, however we decided on something different for the time being. We will check back again when they more residents and see if the activities are better.

Canterfield of Ocala was beautiful. It was almost new. It looked very nice. My tour was exceptional. They gave me lunch, and it was excellent. The food was very good. The rooms were beautiful, but they were expensive.

Canterfield of Ocala was kind of off to itself. It was near a healthcare facility, but there was not really anything other than Walmart that was near it right at the moment, so it was across from Walmart. It was very new, so it was very clean. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and informative not forceful, which was nice. It was just that out of all the other communities that I have visited, the apartments were extremely small in the living space area and the kitchen was really equal to about a wet bar that you would see in maybe a hotel, which was a little disappointing. But other than that, it was lovely.
