We liked Good Samaritan. It was nice and clean, the people were pleasant and friendly, and it's a very new facility. However, they do not let the independent people and the assisted living people eat together; they have different areas. The atmosphere seemed a little more on the medical side. It's a beautiful place, but it seemed a little more structured than the other places. They had defined eating times, and they really didn't have a stretch there. The staff didn't seem as friendly and didn't look as happy there, but everybody looked healthy.

I moved into Florida Lutheran. I get all my meals, and housekeeping twice a month. It's nice, inexpensive, the food is decent, and they give you plenty of it. Everybody here seems to be pretty nice. The bus takes you places almost every day, including doctors' appointments, to the grocery store, pharmacies, and the bank. I'm living in The Fountains. It's very small, and there's a refrigerator, but no cooking facility. It's one of the cheapest places you can find.

Good Samaritan Society is very nice and reasonably-priced. It's an older facility, but it's well taken care of and well-maintained. They have a lot of activities and my mom hasn't had any problems yet. Sometimes she really likes the food, but sometimes not. However, they always have several options and they have extra stuff too that they'll cook if you don't like anything they have. My mom goes to church regularly, plays Bingo, and they have ice cream regularly. She's only been there 30 days. They take them out to the banks, grocery store, and Wal-Mart once a week. They have a beauty shop right on the campus. The pricing is reasonable compared to other places we've checked out.

We enjoyed the visit to Good Samaritan. The apartments were of a decent size. The staff was very nice, and the residents looked happy.

I know a resident that resides at another Assisted Living Facility in Deland, Florida. She was considering leaving her current facility because she does not like having to use stairs on a daily basis. I took her to tour Good Samaritan Society-Florida Lutheran. Good Samaritan Society-Florida Lutheran is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood but has shopping and restaurants nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Pricing was comparable to other assisted living facilities in the area. Housekeeping was very attentive to spills and they have laundry attendants that work around the clock. A large dining area is open to all residents. The grounds are well maintained and landscaping was very detailed. The facility does not allow pets, but they do have a cat that stays in the office. Residents are welcomed to play and interact with the cat if they would like to. The residents that we spoke to were friendly and seemed happy with the facility.
