DO NOT RESIDE HERE! In July 2022, I discovered my birth father on 23andme for the first time in 51 years. Since then, (and with him giving me Power of Attorney), I have been helping him get his life back on track. This included moving him down to Florida from New Jersey, so that he could be nearer my half-brother and the airport, so that we could all visit him after being estranged for so long. As he is not fully able to care for himself, I did some research and sought an Assisted Living Facility for my father. I wanted somewhere that would offer him support with certain things like dressing, cleaning and meals, but to NOT interfere in his medical matters as he has his own medical care team. So, we brought my father to Gold Choice from late August 2022 until end September 2022. OMG - I wish I had never come across this facility. Not only did I have to buy a fridge and microwave and order food from the supermarket so that my father had an adequate diet, but I had to buy extra clothes for him to stay warm, I had to pay for extra private care to keep an eye on things and protect him, and I had to deal with a whole host of unethical issues that literally made me fear for my father’s life. Matters got so bad that I had to call the Ombudsman, Adult Protection Services, Elder Abuse, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Social Services, Lawyers and the AHCA. Needless to say, I got my father moved from this place as fast as possible, hence why he was only there for such a short period and why I am writing this review. I advise everyone AGAINST using this facility or listening to ANY recommendations for this place especially from people offering paid-for Medicaid application services for here. If I could put 0 stars rather than 1 stars for this review I would. Thankfully my father is now well and living in a beautiful place nearby.

Gold Choice Deltona was a very quiet place. It was clean, and I liked the single bedrooms better than the double occupancy rooms. It had no carpet, and I could not say that it was cozy. Debbie was very nice and informative, and she gave me a lot of answers and tips. I think the place should work on their activity list. The dining room was spacious, but I did not try the food. They said they had enough staff, but I did not see a lot of people working there. I saw a reading room, and I saw one person in the movie room but no movie was playing. The area outside for the residents to sit in looked spacious and nice, but I did not see a lot of umbrellas or areas to hide from the sun. I saw one gazebo, though. I can't find a lot of negative things about it, but I can't find a lot of good things about it either. The building looked fairly new and clean. Overall, I'm giving them an average rating because I would have liked to see more staff and more interaction among the residents.

My overall visit at Gold Choice Deltona was good. The room was fine. The cleanliness looked OK. They didn't have a kitchen in the room. They just had two beds, a bathroom, and a closet. The dining area seemed like a restaurant.

Gold Choice was great. Everybody was nice. It would have been a great community, but it was too expensive. I need to find something that goes by my mom's income. It was impeccably clean, very well-manicured, and well-landscaped (both the indoor and outdoor facilities). The staff seemed to be very friendly and helpful. It's fairly new, so everything is fairly modern. They have a special segregated area for residents where you have to have a key code to get in and out of that entire wing. They bring the residents out for other things, but at certain times they make sure that they have their own wing where they can do their own thing and their own activities. They can also roam around and go in and out of their rooms. Gold Choice is super nice and super clean. The bathroom facilities are great. They are closeby everywhere. There are sitting areas and café areas. It is a great place. It would have been an ideal place and an ideal location, but it was just too expensive.

I had a great impression of Gold Choice Deltona. The rooms were all double-rooms. They don't have any single rooms at all. It was a fairly new place, so everything was lovely. I talked to the director. He was very pleasant, very helpful, and very informative. They were doing exercises when I was there. It was a very pleasant. It was a new place, so everything was new and fresh. It was designed well too. The only problem was that they had double rooms only, and there were no single rooms.
