At first I was very impressed. The facility was clean and spacious. The faculty seemed very competent and caring. However, when the patient tried to get assistance going to the bathroom( he was not able to get up by himself) he sometimes waited 20 minutes, which was too Kate for him. He would go in the bed. He had a bad wound on his foot. One afternoon I went to the room, and his foot was not bandaged. I went to the nurses station to get him some assistance. I was assured that it would be taken care. I spoke to him that evening, and it was still uncovered. I had to call the front office to finally get him some help. When he went to his foot Dr, she sent him right back to the hospital for immediate surgery. He was so infected, there was a chance that he could lose his leg. He had an excellent surgeon, who was able to save his leg. This was all due to incompetence. He did not get so infected in one day. The nurses should have seen how infected he was getting. This was just one example. I do not understand why they received a 5 star rating. Two months after his first surgery, he is back in rehab, this time at an older, but a much better rehab facility.

My mother was a resident at Gulf Coast Medical Center Skilled Nursing Unit. They were outstanding and extremely well in their level of care. They were staffed sufficiently and were just very good. The place was clean and neat, and the food was good for my mother. The staff were extremely professional and caring, and they helped me as well. My mother's room was immaculate. It had a bed, chair, TV, sink, and a full bathroom. She was bedridden, so she was not able to use it, but it was there available. It also had a computer station.

The Gulf Coast Medical Center Skilled Nursing Unit was the first place my brother went to after he came out of the hospital. He was in the hospital for six weeks and he went to The Gulf Coast rehab. The place was gorgeous, beautiful, and clean. The food was good. They gave him great care. I have no complaints. It's too bad they weren't a nursing home where we could have kept him there. I would have loved that. He was there for about a month when he came out of the hospital, and then they were going to try to find a nursing home for him and he fell out of bed and fractured his wrist, so he had to stay for another three weeks. He was there for quite a while. The staff was very responsive, very good and very nice. He thought the food was great. He was not in the position to be active in a lot of activities. They did a lot of rehab with him because he couldn't even get out of a chair and he couldn't walk. He was in pretty tough shape. Most of his activities were exercises and he loved them. The facilities were lovely, beautiful, clean, very handy for us to get to, and it's close to home. I thought it was a very nice place. Everything was covered by his insurance. They took care of everything. They took care of his medication and everything that was involved in nursing. He loved it. He was wishing he could stay there.
