I'm at The Home Association right now. I have only been here for a week. The grounds and the building are beautiful. When I talked to them, they said they had a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, but they don't. Everything is canned, so that was a little bit of a disappointment. If I could go out and get my own food, it wouldn't be so bad, but they don't want me leaving the grounds. The rooms here are fairly small. I've been trying to get up every hour or so and take a couple of little steps just to build up my muscles. Most of the staff are nice. They seem to bend over backward for you. They have a nice dining room. They have several nice conference rooms. I haven't done any of their activities because I had other priorities. I was supposed to get my haircut today, but I was the only one who signed up for it, and they needed at least five people signed up to get a haircut. They have an activities calendar, and this afternoon they were supposed to have manicures. The food here is better than in the other place where I was, but still, there's a lot of it I can't eat. They have extra grain crackers and I like those. I have to take my medication, so I've asked for those crackers to take with the medication. With regards to cleanliness, they should clean up the sidewalks a little bit better because they have a lot of leaves and little twigs that have fallen.

Horrible!!!! Do not be fooled by photos. And when you arrive there for a visit, go up to the second floor. All the patients are so drugged up and left in beds. My mom was admitted and because I did not approve of her medications to drug her and she was able to walk around, they kicked her out in three days. I was working anyway after the admission to move her out to a better place. Its the last place I would put mom. I rather have her live in a homeless shelter than here!!! I repeat- HORRIBLE!!!!

The first thing I noticed when I pulled up to the Home Association that there was plenty of parking for visitors and staff. I also noticed that the building is listed as an Historical Landmark built in 1899. I loved the porch on both floors where residents and visitors can sit and rock and just relax. When entering the building I noticed that the majority of residents all seemed to be happy. There was ample staff and they all were friendly and helpful. There is a very large dinning room with plenty of windows so the residents can see outside as they eat their meals. Also the meals appeared to be very healthy looking and the residents enjoyed their food. They majority of rooms were semi-private and ample space for the residents. The three things I did not care for were: 1. The floors were wood and noisy when walking on them. 2. Building was pretty drafty. 3. Very noisy. The three things I liked the most were: 1. The staff was very friendly. 2. Plenty of room to visit with the residents and walk out onto the grounds. 3. Call lights were answered very quickly.
