I visited Truewood by Merrill, Bradenton. As soon as you pull up, it has a big circle drive. It looks like an old southern mansion with pillars in the front. The color was nice when it was painted. It was very cheerful inside and out, and had a lot of color inside. It didn't have just cream walls like some of the other places. It had different colors. It was very big. Their staff told me it used to be an old hotel, so the hallways and everything were very large, with high ceilings. It was just very elegant. The rooms were quite nice. I did not see a room that had a separate bedroom, but in the ones they had, even though they had the bed in there and the dresser, there was still plenty of room for a love seat, a couple of chairs, and a big screen TV on a stand. They had big closets and nice bathrooms. They had a little kitchen area and some of them with a refrigerator and a microwave. What I loved is that you can bring your own furniture, bedding, towels, and things. It makes you feel like you haven't lost everything because you've got some of your own personal things. The staff was very nice. She took me inside and out, and where the rooms come out in rows. Outside, it's covered with a screen like a lanai, or a pool cage would be. She said when the weather gets a little cooler, they put tables and umbrellas out there so everybody can go out and sit. They had a lot of activities, a bus, and a beauty shop and barbershop combination. They had a library, a big dining room, and a theater room where at nighttime, the people can go in there and they fix popcorn and watch movies. It has poker tables set up, pool tables, and corn roll or something where they throw the bean bag through a hole, and they play that game. They had a lot of activities for the people. I was quite impressed with them. The place was very well kept.

My mother was a resident of Truewood by Merrill, Bradenton. It looked good at first. When we got there, we found out that the help was totally incapable of performing the jobs because they weren't trained. You would call up, and you'd get a voicemail. Nobody would ever return your call. The medical care was terrible. They didn't have her medicines that she needed. They wouldn't bring it to her on time, or sometimes they ran out. They didn't know what to do sometimes; they would just ask her what she wanted. It was just terrible. They had a library and physical fitness room. They had a bistro. They had things for people to do. They would have little get togethers on the property. She probably had the biggest room. The room was fine. The bathroom was very small. In June there was heavy rain one day. There was one door that was close to her room, where the water just flowed downhill. They had sandbags by the door to keep the water out, and it didn't do any good. It came into the hallway anyhow.

I toured Truewood by Merrill, Bradenton. The woman was very energetic and had a lot of energy. They were updating the place. They were doing all this work. It was clean. The apartments were very nice, but they needed to be updated. The rooms were spacious enough for one bedroom. It's an older building and you can tell the wood is old. They're very friendly people. They had enough areas for the patients to sit and socialize; there were different places. They have a lot of flowers and bushes and sidewalks around the buildings where they could walk. They had a library, a beauty salon, and arts and crafts.

My ex-husband moved into Truewood by Merrill, Bradenton a week ago. It was one of the least expensive. The room was spacious enough. I found the administrative staff especially helpful in making the arrangements, getting the papers done, all of the nitty gritty stuff. He says that every day he is visited by somebody. He's been enjoying some of the activities, and he said that he's doing OK. One of the things that they told me is that they assign someone the first month that he is in that place. That person will check on him every day. He's a little demented, but he told me that he has company every day. Somebody comes in to sit and chat with him, and he likes that. I think that's a very nice service. It is a very nice thing that they are able to go in and talk to them and make them feel welcome. I find the staff very helpful and very friendly. I'm really pleased. They do the housekeeping, and I find them very good. He had been enjoying some of the activities in the afternoon that they have. He seems to be participating. They had a Mardi Gras day with hats, masks, and all that. He had signed up with that. He did bingo. He's been to their cocktail hour.

We moved my sister here. It is really nice and we're completely happy with it. They have bus trips and outings four days a week, they bring in entertainment, they play bingo, there's a variety of other games that they play, restaurant style dining with good food, fresh fruit, and vegetables, and ice cream available all day.

Our tour was great. We really liked the people who were there. The place is on a very pretty piece of property which has a lot of walking areas for the residents and trees, so it was very shady. The rooms inside were spacious for the residents. The staff was great, and the gentleman we spoke to was very knowledgeable, friendly, and really went out of his way to answer all our questions. When we were there a bunch of the residents were getting on a bus for a mystery bus tour. The gentleman who gave us the tour said the residents really love it. They have a very nice den and rehabilitation center with all kinds of exercise equipment there. When we were there they were also doing manicures for the female residents.

It seemed pretty good and seemed like a clean place with attentive staff members. The rooms were fair and looked pretty much set up for the elderly. They looked decent. The dining area looked good. They have a library.

I loved it, but the rooms and the bathroom especially were too much like a hospital. The staff and activities were great. They were so concerned about their people that they would pair and team them up according to their personalities to make sure that they were making friends. I was very impressed with that. It was the best as far as having different areas like a library and different sitting areas for family and visitors.

We looked here. It was a really pretty place, but I don’t think it is as good as where my dad is at right now. I know they did stuff, but the people didn’t seem as friendly there.

I know it because I had friends that stayed there. It was absolutely fabulous. But I would not feel comfortable in it because it’s very, very elegant, and I would feel like I have to get dressed up everyday. Besides that, everything was very nice. The dining areas were gorgeous. It looked like you’re going to a very fancy elegant restaurant. The staff was very nice.

My mother is here. I am very pleased with everything. The staff answered all my questions, and they seem to be very attentive to everything my mother needs. The apartment had just been refurbished when she moved in. The food is very nice.

When we visited my wife seemed to like it herself. My wife is being taken care of very well. The food looked very nice. My wife's bedroom is always nice and clean, they make up the bed everyday. The dining room and lounge area is nice, clean, and well taken care of.

We had our visit and it was fine. I was going to move her there, but she refused to move because it was too small for her and the view just looked out on another building. The biggest thing that I liked about this facility was their food and their nursing staff. They are very good; that is why I wanted to move her there, but she would not.

It was very nice, but I think it was too high-class -- what my neighbor would call high-class for her. It is more for people who have been aristocrats, and she had not been one. It was beautiful, laid out very nicely, and kind of big. You need to be very mobile to be there.

It has lovely surroundings around the units, and it’s peaceful. The apartments were nice, but there was something in the carpet. I had trouble breathing when walking down the hall.

It is smaller and nicer, and it is only ground level, that's why I chose this for my husband. I got him a one-bedroom apartment in the assisted living, and it has two full rooms. They have an excellent activities department. They have a full-time activities director, which other facilities do not have. They give the clients the opportunity to go on the bus up to four times a week. They can take the bus to go to the bank, to go shopping, to go out to lunch, to do various things.

It has probably the best sales staff. Many of the staff there has worked for 15 to 25 years. We had lunch there, and food was very good. The rooms were very nice, pleasant, and the view out the window was very nice. They had the usual things, like bingo and crafts. The thing that stuck out is a really nice nature trail and area for the residents for things outdoors. So it's a much nicer than the average place to take a walk. The overall atmosphere was just very light and homey. It didn't seem medical, like some of the others.

I went to for a visit. I did not have anything against it but it was the least that I liked. They had a lovely place where you could walk outside and I liked it very much. There was also a little summer house where you could sit. I did not like that the residents with dementia were tucked way in the back. It was a locked-down facility towards the back of the place rather than being treated like everyone else. I preferred that the whole building was for mental care so they were not compared with the other residents.

The staff was very friendly and go along well my my grandmother diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She can be frustrating sometimes, so this is a great feat. It was easy to visit her, and the staff was also caring towards me. They remember details about me which she had told them about, that was very nice and comforting to know they care. She had freedom to visit her friends also staying there as well as freedom to go outside as she pleased. She had many amenities available to her. The facility was clean and well taken care of. She said she enjoyed the food, I agreed it looked fresh and well prepared. I am overall very impressed with this place! I would recommend it to anyone wishing to have their elderly relatives or friends cared for.
