It reminds me of the Jefferson Institute in the movie Coma. There is no staff around and patients are left alone for most of the time. I visited my dad who is there temporarily and could not get out…the door was locked and alarmed and there was no staff at the door or anywhere. I walked around asking loudly for assistance to leave and finally heard a women’s voice down the hall. She told me to give her a minute and it was several minutes of waiting before she remotely unlocked the door. My elderly mother was stopped at the door and told she couldn’t leave because she was a patient, well she’s not and had to show proof. They have hardly any staff to take care of the patients or even know what’s going on. It’s like a scary movie…just awful.

I read a review that stated "If you want your loved one to die...bring them here". I can say that I agree with this statement. My mother was brought to this facility as a positive covid patient. Everyone there had covid- she was put in a room with a roommate. Because of covid there was no visitation. My family was dependent on phone updates from staff and phone calls to my mother. She seemed fine, had a negative covid test but they wanted another negative before discharge. She tested positive again and that was the beginning of the end. There was a tremendous decline in my mothers condition...staff was saying she was stable and improving and in fact they were giving her appetite stimulants. I finally had a FaceTime call scheduled with my mother and she was barely responsive...they were watching her die while telling us she as stable. I insisted she be taken to a hospital which she was and passed 2 days later...so much for stable and improving. They can't locate her belongings which included jewelry. I videoed that FaceTime call....my mother had her jewelry on...she arrived at the funeral parlor with nothing. I wrote a letter to the administrator to discuss my mothers case and to seek explanation of the whereabouts of her belongings. The letter was sent certified mail. After multiple calls to administration it was clear that they were avoiding me. My last contact with the receptionist she actually hung up on me after I eluded to the avoidance. I have reported this facility to the state of Florida.

my sister is here and has many times have to have the police called to get ambulance assitence. they have messed with her meds, dont give any care during the night.

If anyone recommends this place "RUN AWAY", far away. I was sent there after having open heart surgery for "rehab". (When I left the hospital, I was told I would be able to leave Consulate any time I wanted to.). My second day there I was evaluated by the Physical Therapist and on the third day did PT, which consisted of me sitting in a wheelchair with weights on my ankles and doing leg lifts for an hour. Since I was there for rehab from open heart, I actually needed to be walking to help my breathing and strengthen my heart. When I asked about exercises for that, I was told they don't do that! I was confined to my room for 23 hours a day and the only time I left was for my so-called PT.
When they would come in the morning to bring me my medicines, I knew what type of medications I take and I did not recognize some of the pills they were giving me, so I asked them what the pills were and their answer was "I don't know" and I asked the girl to find out and it took her almost 40 minutes to come back to me with an answer and, of course, some of the pills I do not take. Everyday was the same thing with the meds, one day they came in with 4 pills and the next day they would come in with 8! I was not going to take any medication that I was not suppose to and I asked to see the Administrator, she did come to my room and she said going forward she would make sure I received the correct meds, but I still had to check before I took anything.
Call bells were not answered in a timely manner and sometimes not at all. A few times I pressed the call bell to be able to get some Tylenol for pain and no one would come. Most of the time, when my husband was there, he would go to the Nurses Station and tell them to bring me the Tylenol.
Sleeping at night was difficult. Some of the residents in other rooms would keep their TV's on at night very loud or you would hear them crying or moaning in pain for help and no one would come to help them. I was barely getting 2 hours of sleep and after the surgery, I really needed better sleep.
After 5 days of this I had enough and told my husband I was not getting any better in this place and to get me out! I wanted to go home where I could sleep better and also start my own rehab program at home because I do have access to a gym in my complex. When he tried to get me out, they said I could not leave without a Dr's order or else I would be AMA. What Dr? No doctor admitted me and I never saw one while I was there. After he argued with Admin and Case Management for 3 days and getting no where, he finally told them he was going to make a phone call to either the Agency for Healthcare Administration, Joint Commission or CMS and low and behold, the Assist Administrator came in my room and showed me on her cell phone she just received a text from a doctor and the doctor would be here in 15 minutes to discharge me.
The only good thing I could say about the place is visiting hours are 24/7, the food was really good and a nice variety (heard the food use to be horrible, but my roommate told me they got a new chef) and my roommate was an extremely wonderful person.
After a week at home, I was walking on my treadmill, riding the stationary bike and walking up the stairs in my home, these were things I was unable to do in the hospital and at Consulate, but was now able to do them because I started my own rehab program at home.

My husband was in Consulate, which was not very nice and never had anything going on. The food was terrible. They allowed smoking whenever they wanted. I would not recommend it to anybody. They needed to improve on everything.

My mother died on December 8, 2015 at Consulate Health Care nursing home, West Palm Beach.
I have no issues with the nurses, helpers, but the management is terrible. Before my mother died,
I pre paid the entire month of December, and expected a prompt refund of several thousand dollars for the unused days.
I phoned the West Palm Beach office weekly for the past two months for a status of my refund, but all I got was lies,
excuses that I missed the mailings of checks that week, it will be sent next week, etc. Next week is always next week. My last phone call of Feb 5, 2016 was not even taken by anyone at their office.
Management has a do not care attitude, no compassion for the family member. It is hypocritical that on the phone
they have a recording about how caring, compassionate they are, and list of "values" posted on their premises.
Management has a low moral fiber to put anyone through all this, at a time like this. Their conduct is adding to the grief and pain of loosing my mother, and they are holding back money that they are not entitled to which I need for other expenses.
I would not recommend this place to anyone, and urge caution in any dealings with them.

I visit my mother at Consulate Health Care at least three times a week. It’s a great facility. The staff are excellent and very attentive. The rooms are fine. My mom was first brought into rehab and now they’ve moved her into long-term care. She’s doing physical therapy almost every morning. In the afternoons, they have someone who comes in and sings for them. Any events and birthdays they celebrate with a little party in the lobby. If something happens to my mom, such as when she fell trying to get out of her wheelchair, they call me immediately. When my mother broke her hip seven years ago, she came here to recover. My aunt who passed away years ago also stayed here, and she never ever had a problem. I love Consulate. I have no complaints at all.
